Throw an awesome LEGO Minifigure Party with these simple tips and free printables!
Earlier this year, LEGO celebrated the 60th anniversary of their bricks with a handful of play sets, which we shared to go along with a LEGO Challenge Game. 2018 also marks 40th anniversary of the LEGO Minifigure! To celebrate the occasion, 16 new LEGO Minifigures were released in mystery bags on April 1. We decided to celebrate the occasion here at home by throwing a LEGO Minifigure Party with friends!
While "Pinterest-perfect" parties are the goal most of us strive to achieve, our budgets don't always agree with our party plans. I know I'm not the only one in this predicament, so I wanted to share some simple tips, FREE printables, and more about how we were able to throw an awesome party on a budget should you feel inspired to have your own LEGO Minifigure Party!
Officially called the Party Series, these new minifigures are dressed up in wild costumes! Each LEGO series set usually includes 16 minifigures, but this series is extra special because it includes the police officer minifigure that was the first ever created in 1978! You can find the LEGO Minifigures packaged in mystery bags available online or in stores for $3.99 each.
Want to see what we got in our 12 Party Series mystery bags? Watch the video my daughter made opening them all up to find out!
I started with my personal favorite, party favors, to begin my party prep. I created some free printable party favor bag toppers to attach to the top of the favor bags. Print out the toppers on regular copy paper, cut them out with a paper trimmer, and fold the toppers in half.
In each treat bag I added in one LEGO Minifigure mystery bag, and some adorable brick candy that your guests can build AND eat! After the bag has been filled, close the top of the bag and place the topper over the bag. Staple or tape the topper in place.
For a little more LEGO fun, I found these awesome mini popcorn boxes! The favor bags fit perfectly inside, and the box can hold any other goodies that your guests want to take home with them. I especially love how the favors looked on the party table and helped tie in the LEGO theme!
To place the toppers on the cupcakes with ease, I cut a paper straw into 1/4 and attached the pieces to the back of the cupcake toppers with tape. Stick the straw into the cupcakes, and just like that you've got LEGO-themed cupcakes!
For additional table decoration, we rounded up some of our favorite LEGO minifigures. Here in front of the decadent chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, we've got a Roman Gladiator, a Retro Spaceman, a Highwayman, and (my personal favorite) a Dance Instructor from Series 17!
My daughter got out her LEGO bricks and built this awesome napkin and utensil holder to put on our party table. It's VERY easy to build, and kids will be so proud to have one of their creations on display for all the guests to see!
My daughter built this little "cup" to hold markers so that the guests could find them easily. It's built the same way as the utensil holder, but smaller and taller! You could also keep this after the party to hold all of your pens and pencils on a desk!
Entertainment for party guests is one of the most important parts of the party. Not to worry, though. I've got you covered! This Free Printable Make a LEGO Minifigure activity is a ton of fun for kids of all ages. Print the page out and your guests can go wild customizing their own custom LEGO Minifigure!
Don't forget to download and print out Free Printable LEGO Minifigure Bingo to play with friends! It's a fun way to add some LEGO minifigure fun to your party! The bingo printable comes with 10 cards in a set, or you can download a blank set to can create your own cards. Kids of all ages will have a great time playing this game!
This party was a ton of fun to put together, and the kids had a wonderful time. If you haven't already, be sure to check out the latest LEGO Minifigures!

Throw a magical Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom Party with these simple tips and free printables!
My daughter and I just discovered the new Nick Jr. series, Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom and decided to invite some friends over to have a little Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom Party! From the makers of Peppa Pig, Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom is an adorable show that shares adventures about the friendship between the fairy princess Holly and Ben Elf in the magical Kingdom of elves and fairies. Each episode shares tales of perseverance, friendship, and magical fun that kids of all ages are sure to love!
While "Pinterest-perfect" parties are the goal most of us strive to achieve, our budgets don't always agree with our party plans. I know I'm not the only one in this predicament, so I wanted to share some simple tips, FREE printables, and more about how we were able to throw a magical party on a budget should you feel inspired to have your own Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom Party!
Entertainment for party guests is one of the most important parts of the party. Not to worry, though. I've got you covered! The fairy princess Holly always has her trusty wand in hand, and now your guests can have one, too. This is a simple craft for kids with minimal mess.
Step 1: Color both the wand "star" and the face with markers, crayons, or colored pencils.
Step 2: Cut the pieces out with scissors. Smaller children will need help with this step!
Step 3: Use glue or tape (I love using a tape runner) to attach the face piece to the center of the "star" piece.
Step 4: Peel and stick adhesive-backed acrylic gems to the wand face. You could also embellish with glitter glue, stickers, or sequins!
Step 5: Add some tape or glue to the top end of a craft stick. Press it on the back of the wand face.
Step 6: Embellish the wand "handle" with more gems.
Now your guests can have fun creating magic like Holly!! We whipped up some wands to start the party, then watched a few episodes of Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom. The kids loved mimicking Holly and the silly magic spells with their own wands.
Don't forget to download and print out Free Printable Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom Bingo to play with friends. It's a fun way to add some Ben & Holly magic to your party! The bingo printable comes with 10 cards in a set, or a blank set so you can create your own. Kids of all ages will have a great time playing this game!
When it comes to party prep, I like to keep things simple. We found some applesauce cups on sale, and decided to dress them up to look like Gaston, the ladybird from the show. All you have to do is print out the Gaston Printable Labels and cut them out with a 3" circle punch or scissors.
Add some tape to the back of the labels and attach them to the top of the applesauce cups. Now you've got some snacks that fit your party theme with minimal work!
Place the Gaston applesauces on the table to be easily accessible to your guests. We also added a glass cup as a place to hold the magic wands while they weren't being used. This helped to keep wands from getting stepped on, spilled on, or lost throughout the party.
To keep our guests hydrated, we served Fairy Juice (pink lemonade) in blue cups that resemble Ben's hat. To make the hats, I simply cut some leaf shapes out of green paper and attached them to blue paper cups with tape. We also placed some Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom figures on our table for more magical fairy fun!
Our table centerpiece was some vanilla cupcakes with yellow frosting and blue sprinkles on a DIY cake stand. I embellished the cupcakes with some Free Printable Cupcake Toppers cut out with a 2" circle punch with a paper straw (cut into 1/4) taped to the back. I also added the adorable twin fairy figures, Daisy and Poppy, to the plate as well. Such a colorful and fun addition to our party table!
Last, but certainly not least are our Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom party favors. We filled up some colorful paper treat sacks with gummy butterflies and pretzels as a thank you to our guests for coming to our party. Then, I printed out some more cupcake toppers and taped them to the sacks to keep them closed.
This party was a ton of fun to put together, and the kids had a wonderful time. If you haven't already, be sure to check out Nick Jr.'s Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom! You can also follow the fun on Facebook, Twitter, and watch their videos on YouTube!

Make some Qwirkle Chocolates to eat while you play Qwirkle at your next Family Game Night!
Family game night is one of my family's favorite ways to spend time together. Over the years, we have collected all kinds of board and card games. Qwirkle is one game that not a lot of people have heard of, but is one that the whole family will love playing together time and time again. Since it is one of our favorites, we decided to have a Qwirkle-themed family game night complete with some easy-to-make Qwirkle Chocolates for us to eat (and play with)!
Qwirkle is simple game of matching colors and shapes that requires tactical maneuvers, quick-thinking and a well-planned strategy for 2-4 players. It combines the game play of Dominoes and Scrabble that teaches colors, shapes, math and the importance of strategizing. It is the perfect combination of skill and chance for both children and adults.
Players score points by building rows and columns of brightly-colored tiles that are either all the same color or all the same shape without creating duplicates. Score big by placing a tile that touches multiple pieces with matching attributes. Create a line of all six in a row, and you score a "Qwirkle"! The player with the most points when the tiles run out wins!
Making chocolates is a simple and quick treat you can make for a family game night. Start with a silicone mold with 2" squares. You can get these online (Amazon, Etsy, etc) or at stores that carry silicone molds. Mine is an ice cube tray!
Melt a package of chocolate wafers down in the microwave for 1 minute, and in 30 second increments until the wafers are completely melted. Stir well and add a small amount of chocolate into each of the molds. Tilt the mold a little in each direction so that the chocolate coats all four sides. Tap the mold on the counter a few times to distribute the chocolate evenly and release air bubbles.
Add any kind of filling you want into the molds - I have added crushed peanuts, mini M&Ms, caramel, and crushed Oreos. Scoop the remaining melted chocolate into the molds over the filling and tap on the counter again to settle the chocolate. Place in the freezer or refrigerator until the chocolates have set.
To turn these average chocolates into "Qwirkle Chocolates", we've got to add the colorful shapes to the top to resemble the Qwirkle tiles! Melt down a few red, green, blue, purple, yellow, and orange wafers (one at a time). Spoon the melted wafer into a plastic bag and cut a tiny bit of the corner off. Set aside tiles with the six shapes on it next to your work space for reference. Carefully pipe the shapes onto the top of the chocolates. Repeat with all six colors.
Keep the chocolates refrigerated until you are ready for game night. Set up Qwirkle, and play the night away with your family as you enjoy a sweet, chocolatey Qwirkle-inspired treat!
