Kids of all ages will love making Butterfly Suncatchers to brighten up your home!!

Free Printable Butterfly Suncatcher

I was thinking about everything going on right now, and how our lives are never really going to be the same again once this is over. For a moment (or a few), I felt defeated and overwhelmed by it all.  Soon enough, I came across a quote from Steven Aitchison: “A caterpillar must endure a season of isolation before it turns into a butterfly. Embrace the time you have alone, it will only make you stronger.”

This quote, along with seeing people adding bright colors to their windows and sidewalks, inspired me to create this Free Printable Butterfly Suncatcher project. It's a simple craft that kids of all ages can do, and like the butterfly, it's a great reminder that we will get through this tough time together. Plus, everyone who passes by your home will love seeing the pops of color on display!

Glitter your hearts out with these easy to make DIY Glitter Flower Pots!

DIY Glitter Flower Pots

There's so many creative ways to paint a planter, like nail polish marbling or painting with spray paint. Here's one more way to make a plain flower pot cheerful and glamorous. These DIY Glitter Flower Pots are easy to make, and most importantly - the glitter application isn't a nightmare! You can create these flower pots to add some colorful sparkle to your home, or give them out for Mother's Day.

Supplies:

DIY Glitter Flower Pots

First, you need a flower pot that you can paint. I am really loving these ceramic flower pots from Oriental Trading. The terra cotta pots I used for the Gold Ombre Planters are also great, but I really like how these ones are already white, ready to paint, and have a glossy coat on the inside.

DIY Glitter Flower Pots

Paint a coat of FolkArt Color Shift Metallic Paint on the outside of the pot. For this pot, I used Purple Flash. My favorite thing about these paints is the metallic luster that shifts in changing light! Let the paint dry completely, then add another coat if you need more coverage.

DIY Glitter Flower Pots

After the paint has dried, you can add some sparkle! Glitterific paint is my new favorite!! It's filled with multiple-sized glitter particles suspended in a crystal clear base to makes the glitter application completely mess-free. No dumping glitter over paper and then spilling it all over the floor. One coat around the bottom of the flower pot and I was done! Since the base dries clear and glossy, you don't need to add an additional sealer. Plus, the glitter is held in place - even when you touch it!

DIY Glitter Flower Pots

Once the Glitterific paint has dried, the flower pot is complete! You can create different looks depending on the paint color combinations you use. For this flower pot, the base is Purple Flash with Blue Moon.

The last Glitter Flower Pot is Color Shift in Pink Flash with Glitterific in Princess.

Since I can't keep a plant alive (I consider my home a hospice for plants), FloraCraft succulent picks look amazing in the DIY Glitter Flower Pots! After you choose a succulent pick (there are a ton to choose from), add a piece of floral foam into the pot and arrange the picks. Pour in some small river rocks, and the glitter flower pots are ready to put on display!

With a little bit of paint, you can turn inexpensive terra cotta pots into trendy DIY Gold Ombre Planters!

Thanks to FloraCraft for the plant supplies in this post. As always, all opinions are my own.

With a little bit of paint, you can turn inexpensive terra cotta pots into trendy DIY Gold Ombre Planters!

Terra cotta/clay pots can be found almost anywhere and are very inexpensive. They are also a lot of fun to customize. These DIY Gold Ombre Planters will look chic in any environment, and are easy to make. They will also make great gifts. Our Marbled Flower Pots were a hit a few years ago, and I am sure we will whip up some of the ombre ones this year to give as Mother's Day gifts!

Supplies:
clay/terra cotta pots
white paint
gold paint

With a little bit of paint, you can turn inexpensive terra cotta pots into trendy DIY Gold Ombre Planters!

Wipe down the terra cotta pots to get rid of any dust or dirt and remove any tags or stickers. Paint the pots with white acrylic paint or spray paint. If you use acrylic paint, you may need to paint about 3 thin coats for full coverage. I used Krylon White Gloss spray paint and needed 2 coats for full coverage. Either way, make sure to let the paint dry completely between coats.

To create the ombre effect, you need some gold paint. Again, you can use acrylic paint or spray paint. I used Krylon Metallic Gold and Krylon Glitter Blast spray paints to try a couple different finishes.

Turn the pots upside down. Spray lightly toward the bottom of the pot and around the bottom edges. Try not to paint above the middle of the pot. Once you're satisfied with the look, let the paint dry completely. You can also add a coat of clear gloss spray paint for an extra layer of protection, especially if the pots will be outside.

If using acrylic paint, start at the bottom of the pot. Paint heavier at the bottom, then paint lighter as you go up. The edges don't have to be perfect!

While the pots dried, I poured out some mini river rocks and gave them a coat of the metallic gold spray paint. Let them dry completely!

When it comes to keeping plants alive, I am not too great at it. I'd describe my home as a hospice for plants. They come here for me to help them die. So to keep things positive this spring, I am going full faux! Foam balls like these from FloraCraft come in lots of different sizes to fit inside flower pots to hold your flower/plant picks and to save you on decorative planter filler (mini river rocks).

Place the foam balls inside the pots. If the foam seems a little loose, you can add some glue to hold it in place. You can also use a floral foam knife if you need to trim them down to fit into a smaller pot.

The stars in my planters are these gorgeous FloraCraft Succulent Picks. They come in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. Most importantly, they look realistic. I can feel safe knowing that anyone who comes to visit my home will be none-the-wiser that I have the blackest thumb of them all!

With a little bit of paint, you can turn inexpensive terra cotta pots into trendy DIY Gold Ombre Planters!

After placing the foam into the pot, I carefully layered some of the gold-painted rocks over top so that the foam is no longer visible. Stick a few succulent picks into the foam and arrange the rocks as necessary. Play with different sizes and shapes of succulents for a unique look. I love how chic this ombre planter looks, and it will be gorgeous in practically any setting!

With a little bit of paint, you can turn inexpensive terra cotta pots into trendy DIY Gold Ombre Planters!

For the glittered ombre planter, I used one larger succulent instead. It's probably no surprise that this gold-glittered pot has my heart! I adore the sparkle and the extra gold accent from the rocks makes the succulent stand out.

I am excited to display these planters in my home. They are so much fun to make. What color ombre planters would you make?

Celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd by playing Free Printable Earth Day Bingo!

Playing bingo at holiday parties has become a fun tradition in our family. Earth day is coming up on April 22nd, and this Free Printable Earth Day Bingo will be a fun way to celebrate. Go grab some tiny pebbles and get ready to play!

Celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd by playing Free Printable Earth Day Bingo!

Just like my other printable bingo games, I'm sure this Earth Day version will be a hit to play in the classroom or as a family. We're looking forward to playing this on Earth Day after making some other crafts and treats. Playing bingo is also a great way to practice matching with younger children.

(Set includes 8 bingo cards and calling pieces in a single PDF file)

I've gotten a lot of requests to make more than 8 bingo cards for larger groups. To help solve this problem without having to create a whole bunch of card designs, I've put together a version that will make it easy for everyone to customize their own bingo card.

Celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd by playing Free Printable Earth Day Bingo!

Print out the Blank Earth Bingo Set, which comes with a blank card (with the "free" space already added), 24 bingo pieces, and the calling cards.

Cut the bingo pieces by following the lines. Glue the pieces wherever you want on the card with glue stick until all the spaces (except the "free" space) are covered. This would be a fun activity for older kids to do all on their own. Younger children will need some assistance with the cutting.

(Set includes one blank bingo card, bingo pieces, and calling pieces in a single PDF file)

Game Instructions
1. Pick some kind of object to mark your squares (candy, glass gems, buttons, etc)
2. Give each player a bingo card and markers (or put your own card together with the blank set).
3. Have each player put a marker over the free space.
4. Have one person choose a calling card and say it out loud. Each player will cover that item on their card with a marker.
5. Once a player has 5 squares covered in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), call out "BINGO!" and win the game!

Some things you should know before downloading:
*Artsy-Fartsy Mama printables are for PERSONAL USE ONLY.
*You may NOT modify, re-sell, redistribute, or claim the design as your own.
*Please do not remove the credits/watermarks.
*If you'd like to share this printable, credit must be given to Artsy-Fartsy Mama & linked back to this post.

To lengthen the life of the prints, I would recommend printing the bingo cards and calling pieces on cardstock and laminating. All files are 8.5x11 inches and put together in a single PDF format.

Have fun!! Would love to hear from you if you play using my printable!

Decorate your home for Easter with this easy-to-make DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath!

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

After doing a little Easter shopping for our upcoming family Easter egg hunt, I came across these glittery beauties and couldn't resist adding them to the cart. Instead of filling them with sweet treats and surprises though, I decided they needed to adorn my walls every spring instead in the form of a wreath!!

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

You only need 3 supplies:
4 dozen Multi-Colored Glittered Easter Eggs (I found mine at Walmart)
Glue Gun & Glue Sticks

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

Step 1: Hold the egg carefully in your hand and add a large drop of glue on the center of the egg.

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

Step 2: Carefully place the egg on the wreath form and hold in place for a few minutes until the glue has set.

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

Step 3: Place the rest of the eggs close to each other until the wreath is covered. You won't need to cover the back of the wreath since it won't be seen.

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

Step 4: Once the wreath is covered with sparkling eggs, you're done! You can add embellishments like ribbon or Easter grass, but I decided to keep mine with just the eggs. Glue a small piece of ribbon shaped like a "U" on the back to work as a wreath hanger.

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

This wreath is so easy to make and doesn't take too long at all. It's a great crafternoon or girl's night project, but prepare to be covered in glitter when you're done! Obviously, the larger the wreath, the more eggs you will need. I also recommend putting on your favorite movie or binge-watching some Netflix while you make your wreath since the gluing can get a little monotonous after a while. Just watch your fingers so you don't burn yourself!!

Hang the wreath on your door or walls, or stand it up on a shelf with your favorite Easter knick knacks and decor. I am absolutely loving this wreath and hope you do, too!

Marbled Flower Pots Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com

If you're looking for a way to brighten up a room without a lot of work, these marbled flower pots are a fun way to do that. This is a fun project that even the kids will enjoy making. Marbled pots also make a sweet gift idea! My daughter and I made some for the grandmas for Mother's Day and they absolutely loved them.

Marbled Flower Pots Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com

First, start with some terra cotta pots. Any size will work! We used tiny ones to start out, but will probably start making larger ones really soon. You can find these almost anywhere for cheap.

Marbled Flower Pots Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com

First, paint the pots with white acrylic paint. One of my favorites for terra cotta pots is this DecoArt Americana paint in Snow (Titanium) White because it only takes 1-2 coats of paint. The reason for painting the pots white first is to give the marble a bright, blank background so that the colors really pop. If you'd like, you can certainly skip this step and try marbling without white paint. This is a really fun project to experiment with different paint colors!

Since the pots will eventually be filled with dirt, you can leave the insides unpainted, paint the top third, or paint the entire inside.

Marbled Flower Pots Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com

Once the pots are dry, choose 2-3 coordinating nail polish colors. Any brand of polish will work, so I'd recommend using ones that you don't use too often, or check out the selection at the dollar store. Try to choose colors that blend well together (get out those color wheels!) and aren't old/chunky. Metallics and even clear, glitter topcoats look fantastic on these pots.

Marbled Flower Pots Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com

Prep for marbling with a disposable container that is deep enough for the pot to fit in, nail polishes, paper towels, and toothpicks. MOST IMPORTANTLY, be sure to work in a well-ventilated area.

  1. Fill the container with warm water.
*It doesn't need to be hot, but it can't be cold or else the nail polish will dry too quickly.
  2. Pour the nail polish into the container slowly so it stays on the top of the water.
*If you pour too quickly, the nail polish will sink.
  3. Using a toothpick, swirl the nail polish colors together to create the marble look.
  4. Hold the top edge of the pot with your fingertips and dip it carefully into the water. Swirl the pot around and the nail polish magically sticks to the pot, looking gorgeous!
  5. Place the pot upside down on paper towels to dry.
  6. After each pot, run a toothpick through the water/nail polish and pick up the excess nail polish off the surface of the water.
  7. Wait at least 10-20 minutes for the pots to dry.
We let them sit in a well-ventilated room overnight just to be sure.
  8. Fill pots with soil and your favorite plants. No green thumb? There are TONS of faux plants out there that will look fabulous!!

Share some Easter goodies with friends and family this year with some Easter Bunny Treat Bags!

Free Printable Easter Bunny Treat Bags at artsyfartsymama.com

My daughter and I enjoy making holiday crafts together. Last year we made some fun Thanksgiving Turkey Treat Bags for our Thanksgiving dinner and to give to her school teachers. Since they were so much fun, we decided to create some Easter Bunny Treat Bags for Easter! These bunnies are simple to make and I'm sure you'll love them, too! To make things easier I've also created a free printable template for you to use so you can enjoy making some for your family and friends as well!

Free Printable Easter Bunny Treat Bags at artsyfartsymama.com

Print out the Bunny Treat Bag printable on cardstock and cut out the pieces. If you want to get a little more creative or want to make this a kid's project, there are also blank bunny ears, nose and feet that are included in the template that kids can color before cutting out.

Free Printable Easter Bunny Treat Bags at artsyfartsymama.com

Fold the envelope on the printed guidelines. Grab a tape runner (BTW: I'm really loving Aleene's Tacky Line Runner right now), glue stick, or whatever you like to stick paper together with and start putting your bunny treat bag together:

Free Printable Easter Bunny Treat Bags at artsyfartsymama.com

Lay the envelope down with the guidelines facing up. Fold the top rounded section over and that's where you put the face on. Place some tape or glue on the pointy ends of the bunny ears and stick them to the back just below the fold so they peek over the top.

Free Printable Easter Bunny Treat Bags at artsyfartsymama.com

When you fold the bottom section up toward the face, you can place the feet wherever you think looks cute. While that bottom section is folded, turn that little guy around and add a white pom pom or cotton ball for the tail. The image above shows what the back should look like when you lay the envelope flat.

Free Printable Easter Bunny Treat Bags at artsyfartsymama.com

Fill up a small cellophane bag with Easter treats, toys, or even little Easter eggs and place it in the center of the bunny envelope. Fold the bottom and top together and close with some tape or glue. Now you've created the cutest bunny treat bag ever to share with family and friends!
