Making things for a new baby is so much fun! This Woodland Baby Mobile was made using felt for my baby nephew, and I am so excited about how it turned out. I'm new to making mobiles, so this was a new challenge for me. Even though it was actually very simple to make, it did take a bit of time to stitch everything together. There are just so many things you can create using a Cricut machine, and I've been wanting to show how you can cut the same image using different materials to create a project. In this case, I made an adorable baby gift set that anyone can make and is the perfect gift for any new baby!

My sister-in-law is about to have a baby, so I've been thinking about what to give her to celebrate her new bundle of joy. Often when you think of what to get a new mom, shopping for adorable little onesies, burp cloths, and bottles can be hard to resist. However, I remember when I was a new mom and I was overwhelmed with all of those things. What I really needed was the essentials, which I didn't have very much of, if at all. So, if you're about to celebrate a new mom, or mom-to-be, I've put together a gift basket idea that I know she AND baby will appreciate.
There are a lot of baby products out there, but I want to give my sister-in-law the JOHNSON’S® baby products I loved using with my daughter the most. For daytime baths, my go-to was the JOHNSON’S® Head-to-Toe Baby Wash to gently cleanse and soothe sensitive baby skin with one bottle. Afterward, the Johnson's Baby Lotion is perfect for babies' delicate skin and has the classic baby-fresh scent. The JOHNSON’S® Bedtime Baby Bath, Lotion, and Shampoo helped us get into a routine to calm baby down at bedtime with a warm bath, gentle massage, and Natural Calm essences to help babies sleep better (which is helpful for everyone).
All of the JOHNSON’S® products are safe for sensitive baby skin, because they’re clinically proven to be gentle and mild, as well as being hypoallergenic and paraben-free. You can find a variety of JOHNSON’S® baby products at Walmart in the baby products aisle.
Now that you have your products, it's time to arrange them into a sweet gift basket! Find a basket that you like. You could even find a bin or container that the mom-to-be can use again afterward for storage! Line the basket with some tissue paper sheets. Place the JOHNSON’S® baby products into the basket. I put the taller bottles in the back and the shorter in front so you could see them all. I also put the Bedtime products together on the same side.
If you want, you can also put in other gifts like pacifiers, socks, and other small items into the basket. While we were shopping, my daughter picked out a sweet little stuffed cat for her new cousin. I put the cat in between the two taller bottles so it looks like she's snuggling the lotion.
Next, I tied some adorable pink ribbon with sparkle dots around the basket into a sweet bow in the front. I just love little details like this on gift baskets. Plus, the new mom can reuse the ribbon afterward to use as a hair bow for baby!
Make sure that you include a card with the gift basket! I've designed a card that you can download and use for any baby gift. Simply print out the Baby Card on white cardstock and cut it out with scissors or a paper cutter. Fold along the center line, and write your message inside. The folded card measures 4" x 6", so it will fit in an envelope.

Easily make diapers for your baby dolls with this Free No-Sew Baby Doll Diaper Pattern!
My daughter was surprised with a Baby's First Air Baby doll, and it was very nostalgic for me to watch her open it up. The smell of the new plastic, the sweet little baby clothes, and how realistic baby dolls looked and felt brought back all the memories of my own baby dolls. The Air Baby is the size of a newborn, but has an adjustable air pillow tummy that makes it lighter than other baby dolls. If you're expecting a human baby into your family soon, this is the perfect doll to prepare your child for their new sibling. We aren't expecting any babies (yet), so my daughter has just been caring for her baby doll like it's a real baby.
After a few hours of playing "mom", she told me that she needed some diapers for her baby. Since our other baby dolls are a lot smaller, we didn't have any doll diapers that fit. So, I decided to put together a No-Sew Baby Doll Diaper pattern that kids can make on their own for larger baby dolls like this one!
Download and print out the No-Sew Baby Doll Diaper Pattern. Cut it out, and tape the pieces together as directed. Use some fabric that won't fray (I prefer felt, fleece, or flannel), and fold it in half. Line the pattern up on the fold.

Use a washable fabric pen to trace the pattern. If you'd like to make a diaper that you can sew, just add 1/4" all the way around for a seam allowance.
Grab some fabric scissors and carefully cut through both layers of fabric. Just don't cut through the fold!
Open up the diaper and lay it down with the longer edge at the top. Lay the baby down over it, and bring the bottom end up. If the tabs seem too long, you can trim them down.
We had some adhesive-backed Velcro circles on hand, and placed the soft sides on the front of the diaper, and the hooked sides on the outer tabs. If you don't have adhesive-backed, you can use some regular and stick it on the diaper with some fabric glue.
To close the diaper, bring the back tabs around to the front and press the Velcro pieces together. You can add more dots of Velcro along the front to make it adjustable, or use a strip of Velcro across the front instead.
These diapers are so quick to make, and there are so many fun fabrics out there! Kids will love being able to make them all on their own, and I think it will definitely help them to feel more independent and self confident.

Did you have a favorite baby doll when you were growing up?
Babies are so much fun to dress and shop for! So, needless to say, I could easily spend way too much money on my niece's wardrobe. With a little help from my Cricut Explore, I created some adorable baby tees for less than $5 each! Now that little girl will always be dressed in style, and her mom and I have a little more money to spend on baby toys instead!
You can find tops in all different colors and patterns for $3-4 from the Garanimals line at Walmart. We chose to make 4 different tops, and this Little Stinker Tee is my favorite! I typed up the words in Design Space and added the cute skunk from the Trendy Tshirts cartridge.
I cut the design out of black glitter iron-on vinyl and attached it to the shirt. If you haven't worked with iron-on vinyl, it's really simple to use! It washes really well, which is important when it comes to baby clothes!
When cutting iron-on vinyl with your Cricut Explore, be sure to keep these tips in mind:
Mirror your image before cutting. The vinyl will be placed with the clear carrier sheet/"pretty side" down, so if you don't mirror your image, it will be backwards after it's cut.
Iron-On Vinyl can be cut using the Iron-On setting on the dial.
For this sweet Heart Tee, I cut out a sparkling gold heart design which is also from the Trendy Tshirts cartridge. Even with the busy heart pattern on the shirt, the gold glitter iron-on vinyl stands out and looks so cute!
Once your design has been cut, weed out the excess vinyl and place it on the shirt.
Set your iron to the cotton/linen setting with the steam OFF.
Lightly preheat the area with the iron for 10-15 seconds. This really does help!
Place your image, liner side UP onto the area. If you don't place the liner side up, the vinyl will stick to your press cloth.
Carefully lay a press cloth or dishtowel over the design.
Apply medium pressure with the iron for 25-30 seconds.
Flip the shirt over and apply medium pressure with the iron to the back for an additional 25-30 seconds.
If you have any parts that didn't stick for some reason or if edges are flipping up, re-iron the pieces or loose edges with the iron tip for 10 seconds.
Let cool and remove liner. If you try to remove the liner before it cools, you risk burning your fingers or peeling the vinyl up.
Next, I designed a kiss mark and uploaded it to Design Space to create a sassy and hip tee for the little fashionista to wear. She's always being smothered in kisses anyway, so this Kiss Tee is perfect for her. I cut the design out in a glittery bright pink iron-on vinyl that really pops on the black shirt.
This Feed Me and Tell Me I'm Pretty Tee was just typed up in Design Space and cut out of a multicolored glitter iron-on vinyl. It has me laughing every time I see it, and I couldn't resist making a matching one for her cute mom! My niece looks absolutely adorable her newest pieces of fashion. It was fun to make these for her, and I know I'll be whipping up a whole lot more in the future.
A lot of kids usually have a favorite toy or blanket. My daughter has piles of each. I found the cutest pattern to bring the best of both worlds, and I can say without a doubt that my daughter was thrilled when I finally finished this cute Cat Cuddle Blanket!
I have a ton of friends who are pregnant right now, so I wanted to get a head start on the baby gifts! While gifts from the store make great presents, homemade just adds a little something special. I found an adorable bib pattern from Pine Needles, one of my favorite shops here in Utah {located inside Gardner Village to be exact}, with almost everything you need for any sewing project.
While the finished bib looks a little complicated, I promise it's not!! The pattern is made by Precious Patterns, and is so easy to follow and had pictures to show you every step of the way. I was so happy that for once, I didn't have to unpick anything! If you are a beginner sewer, I would highly recommend this pattern. With just a few changes in fabrics, every bib will be unique!

Giraffe & Gator Bibs pattern by Precious Patterns
3 fabrics - one yellow, and 2 coordinating oranges
White flannel {or fusible fleece}
2 yellow 3/4 - 1" buttons
2 white 3/4" buttons
2 black 7/16 - 1/2" buttons
Velcro {or snaps}
It took me about an hour to make this bib, but I'm kind of slow when I'm working with a new project. Now that I've made it once, I know I could make it again in less than 30 minutes. My daughter has been wearing it herself, and having a lot of fun using this bib for her dolls. So, I can positively say that this pattern is kid-approved! The fleece/flannel inside of the bib makes it absorbent to any spills, and it's constructed in a way that I'm sure will hold up nicely in the wash.
