Master your xTool with this beginner's guide! Find top accessories and essential materials for the M2, S1, and X1 laser machines.

Whether you just purchased a new xTool laser crafting machine or are looking into one, it can be overwhelming to know just what accessories and supplies you really need. I've been an xTool user for 3+ years, so I've put together my must-have list of accessories and supplies that every xTool beginner will need to get started. If you got a machine for Christmas, Black Friday, or another special occasion, use this guide for yourself or send it to a loved one!
First, let's talk machines. The xTool laser crafting machine family currently features over 11 different models across 5 different laser technologies, ranging from compact desktops to powerful hybrid systems. Let's break them down:
- P-Series (CO₂ Cutters): xTool P3 (80W flagship) and xTool P2S (55W value desktop).
- F-Series (Portable / Galvo / Dual Lasers): xTool F1, F1 Ultra (Fiber + diode), xTool F2 (IR + diode), xTool F2 Ultra (MOPA fiber + diode), and xTool F2 Ultra UV (5W UV).
- S-Series (Enclosed Diode): xTool S1 (20W/40W enclosed diode with expandable workspace).
- M-Series & All-in-One / Hybrid Systems: xTool M2 (color craft laser), M1 Ultra (4-in-1 craft system), xTool O1 Omni, and the next-gen xTool X1 all-in-one laser.
Every machine has its pros and cons, so it helps to find the right fit for your goals, whether you're crafting as a hobby or running a business. To make it easier, I'm sharing my personal recommendations and must-have supply and accessory lists for the three machines I personally own: the xTool M2 , xTool S1 , and xTool X1 .
xTool M2

The xTool M2 is an all-in-one crafting machine that's most affordable for hobbyists and small business owners. What makes this machine stand out is how it combines full-color inkjet printing and laser cutting in a single step, so you never have to switch machines or manually re-align materials when creating projects.
Smart Dual-Camera Alignment System: This machine features a wide angle lid camera to capture the entire 12.5" x 16.7" workspace, alongside a close-up tracking camera to automatically detect material thickness and size. Together, they deliver sub-millimeter accuracy, automatic thickness and size detection, and a live preview in xTool Studio so you can position your design exactly where you want it.
Swap Skills in Seconds: Change your machine’s capabilities in seconds thanks to a magnetic pin-and-socket design! Easily switch between the CMYK inkjet printer module, blue diode laser modules (10W, 20W, or 40W), or a 3W 1064nm infrared laser for engraving metals and plastics.
CMYK Full-Color Printing + Print-Then-Cut: Traditional laser machines are limited to cutting and engraving, but with the xTool M2 the optional CMYK inkjet printing module, you can print vibrant graphics, labels, or stickers directly onto your materials then watch as the laser automatically cuts right around your design.
Rotary Capabilities: Expand your projects with the RA3 Rotary Kit, which enables 360-degree engraving on spherical and cylindrical objects (like tumblers, mugs, and even baseballs) directly inside the machine - no bulky riser base needed!

*The inkjet module works best on fabric, wood, paper, and other porous surfaces. It cannot print directly on very dense or smooth materials such as metal, glass, or ceramic, because the ink cannot properly penetrate or adhere to them without an adhesion coating applied first.
Cost: $499+
xTool S1

The xTool S1 is an enclosed diode laser designed to bring professional-grade precision to hobbyists and small business owners. It combines high-power performance, smart positioning, and built-in safety features with a larger 19.6 × 12.5-inch workspace. Add the Smart Air Assist and SafetyPro Air Purifier for clean, flame-free cuts and smoke-free indoor crafting.
Interchangeable Laser Modules: Easily swap laser modules out depending on what you're creating:
- 40W Diode Laser Modules: Powerful cutting for thick wood and dark acrylics with CO₂-like speed.
- 2W 1064nm Infrared (IR) Module: Designed specifically for crisp, high-contrast engraving on all metals and plastics.
No Camera Needed: Traditional laser cameras are prone to fisheye lens distortion and height errors, especially near the edges of the bed. The Pinpoint Positioning System completely eliminates those optical issues, so you can stop wasting materials on alignment mistakes.
Dynamic-Focus & Multi-Point Auto-Focus: An electric Z-axis and built-in distance sensor automatically measure material thickness. It even adjusts focus in real time for 3D and curved-surface engraving on items like tumblers!
Expandable Capabilities: Supports accessories like a riser base for taller items and an automatic conveyor feeder for extra-long materials. For large-scale projects, you can expand your workspace with the Automatic Conveyor Feeder to seamlessly process projects up to 118 inches long or efficiently produce batches with ease.

xTool X1

The xTool X1 is an all-in-one laser cutter and engraver built to grow right alongside your creative business! Instead of cluttering your workspace with separate machines, the X1 lets you integrate multiple laser sources into a single unit. Start with a 55W CO₂ and add 20W diode galvo laser, then expand over time using optional module "backpacks" - including a 60W MOPA fiber, 30W fiber, and 5W UV laser - to match your business as it evolves.
Large Range of Materials: Tackle heavy cutting and engraving on thick wood and acrylics with the CO₂ and add 20W diode galvo, then with the right modules, you can also mark vibrant colors on metal (MOPA), 3D-engrave glass and crystal (UV), and deep metal carving (Fiber).
ACS Smart Workflow: Features a triple-camera precision system for live processing views and automated positioning, plus it includes an auto-rising base to automatically adjust for different material heights.
UniCast Body Frame: Built from a three-piece, high-pressure die-cast aluminum frame designed to minimize vibration and enhance long-term structural precision.
Hybrid Motion Technology: Merges a four-axis gantry with a high-speed flying galvo head. This unique setup hits operating speeds of up to 6,000 mm/s, ideal for high-volume batch work and large-scale projects
Accessories:
- xTool X1 20W Diode Galvo Module
- xTool X1 5W UV \ 30W Fiber \ 60W MOPA Galvo Source
- Honeycomb Panel
- Mobile Work Stand
- Intelligent Conveyor Feeder
