Kandi Star Keychains

To make your own Kandi Star Keychains, you will need these supplies:

Kandi Star Keychains

Cut a length of elastic measuring about 12 inches. Choose two colors for your star: 1 for the inner part of the star, and a second for the outer part. The inner part will need 10 beads, and the outer will need 15.

String the 10 inner beads onto the elastic.

Bring the ends together to make a circle. Tightly tie the ends together with a double or triple knot, leaving about 2 inches of cord on one end and the other longer.

Kandi Star Keychains

String three of the outer beads onto the longer end of the cord.

Determine where the elastic is coming from. Skip one bead, and then thread end of the elastic down through the next bead and pull it through.

Kandi Star Keychains

String three more beads onto the elastic, then skip another bead and thread the end of the elastic through the next bead.

Kandi Star Keychains

Repeat the process of stringing on three beads, skipping a bead, and then threading the elastic through the next until you have 5 outer sections. The ends of the elastic should meet back up, coming through the same bead opening again.

Tie the ends of the elastic together tightly in a double or triple knot and trim the ends close to the knot. Now you have a completed kandi star that can be used for practically anything!!

Use jewelry pliers to open a 10-12mm jump ring. Loop the ring through the center bead of any grouping of any outer section of beads.

Hook a keychain to the jump ring and close it using the pliers.

Now the Kandi Star Keychain is done! You can attach your keys to it, use it as a backpack charm, or even turn it into a necklace (don't add the keychain if you decide to do this).

Once you get the hang of making pony bead stars, you can customize them to look any way you'd like by changing up color patterns! Get creative with it and have fun!!
