SAFETY FIRST: Before getting started, wear disposable gloves, protect your workspace, and be sure to work in a well-ventilated area!

Cut a 6-8 inch piece of packing tape and fold the ends over. This will make it easier to move the project around without messing up the project. Place the two bezel charms on the sticky side of the tape and use a brayer tool to press them down REALLY well. Turn the tape over and press them again. I'd recommend even scraping the tape down well with your fingernails so that the bezels are stuck to the tape as much as possible. Any air bubbles or openings will give the resin areas to seep out.

Fill the bezel up a little less than halfway with resin. Use a toothpick to pull the resin all the way to the edges. Run a lighter over the resin to pop any surface bubbles.

Place a dried four-leaf clover in the center of the bezel. They will be very fragile, so be very careful! Gently press it the leaf so that at least the back is covered in the resin.
Place the bezels (still attached to the piece of tape) under UV light for at least 2 minutes. Turn the tape over and place it under the light again to cure for 2 minutes.

Turn the tape back over so that the bezels are face-up again. Add another layer of resin on top, filling the bezel the rest of the way up. Use a toothpick to make sure that the resin is all the way to the edges. Run a lighter over the surface to pop any bubbles.
Cure the resin one more time for at least 2 minutes. When you touch the surface of the resin, it should be completely hardened and no longer tacky.

Slowly peel the tape away from the bezels. If there are any areas that don't seem to be cured or are sticking to the tape, lay it back down and cure for a bit longer. Once the tape has been completely pulled off, you can remove any sticky residue left behind with a little bit of alcohol.

This step is optional, but I think it makes the charm look a little more professional. Pour a thin layer of resin over the back of the charm and use a toothpick to spread it out to the edges. Run a lighter over the resin to pop any surface bubbles. Cure the resin for at least 2 minutes.

You could also turn these four-leaf clover charms into a necklace, or add a keyring with chain to make a lucky keychain.

Lovely, how do you avoid the resin getting cloudy after exposing it under UV light so many times?
ReplyDeleteHi Divya! I haven't ever had any problems with UV resin clouding under too much light. What brand of UV resin are you using? I might be able to help.
