Winnie the Pooh Peg Dolls

This is a post sponsored by Blueprint Social and Disney. All opinions are my own.

Growing up, my sisters and I watched The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh over and over. We had all the songs memorized, and loved everything about the Hundred Acre Wood. The characters will always have a special place in my heart and I'm so happy that I can share my love of Winnie the Pooh with my daughter. To celebrate the re-release of the movie, I created some peg dolls designed after the Winnie the Pooh characters so we can make some adventures of our own!

Supplies:
Seven 2 5/16" Birch Peg Men
Two 1 11/16" Birch Peg Boys
Five 1/2" x 5/8" Candle Cups
Mechanical Pencil
Acrylic Paints
Clear Polyurethane Varnish or Spray Paint

Using a mechanical pencil, I carefully drew each of the characters onto the peg people. I recommend a mechanical pencil rather than a regular pencil because the lines are thinner and the pencil stays sharp. I used the movie and screenshots of the characters for reference. Be sure to draw lightly, otherwise the pencil might show through the paint.

I had to sing through the Winnie the Pooh theme song to make sure I didn't miss anyone. Christopher Robin, Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, and Kanga were drawn on the larger pegs, and the smaller peg people were the perfect size for Piglet and little Roo.

Once everyone was drawn, I used acrylic paints to paint all the characters. I used small, high quality paint brushes and found it a little easier to paint one character at a time. For the smaller parts like eyes and ears, I used a ultra fine point Sharpie. I also painted five of the candle cups so Pooh could have his fill of honey!

Once all the characters were painted, we took them outside and spread them out on a large piece of cardboard. They were then coated with clear polyurethane spray paint to seal the wood and help protect the paint. If you don't want to spray paint, you can also paint a layer or two of clear polyurethane varnish. Let dry completely before touching. You will know they are dry when they are no longer tacky.

Winnie the Pooh Honey Pot #DisneyWinnie

My husband was at the thrift store and found this beautiful wooden bowl. Since Pooh just can't get enough honey throughout the movie, I just knew we needed another honey pot, and this one looked like the perfect one! Using the Cricut, I cut out the word "hunny" in their Winnie the Pooh font in black vinyl. I applied the vinyl to the bowl to create an instant honey pot.

Not only is the large honey pot fun to look at, it's also functional! All 9 characters and 5 mini honey pots fit perfectly in the bowl for easy storage.

I'm so in love with these peg dolls and am looking forward to creating some fun adventures in our imaginary Hundred Acre Wood with my daughter and watching the movie. I hope she comes to love that silly old bear as much as I do!

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack and HD Digital on August 27th. Be sure to follow that silly old bear on Facebook!
