4-Ingredient Dog Treats

These 4-ingredient dog treats are sure to be a hit with your four-legged friends!

The dogs are always sitting by as we've been baking lately, patiently waiting for crumbs to drop as we go. I felt kind of bad, so I decided to bake up a treat just for them. These homemade dog treats are cheap, easy, and only need FOUR simple ingredients (that you probably already have)! I hope your pups love them as much as my dogs, Lulu and Penny, do!

I’ve been spending a lot of time and money shopping for good-quality dog treats, but then I thought, why not just make them at home? This recipe is surprisingly simple, and I know exactly what’s going into them instead of suspicious by-products. Plus, you can make SO many dog treats for a fraction of the cost! By the way, these dog treats are 100% people-safe, but dogs will definitely like them better than your kids will.

4-Ingredient Dog Treats

Ingredients:

2 cups whole wheat flour*
½ cup peanut butter (make sure there is no Xylitol)
2 eggs
¼ cup water

*The recipe will turn out just fine with regular flour, but whole wheat flour has a little more nutritional value.

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350º F. 
2. Mix the flour, peanut butter, and eggs together in a large bowl until combined.
3. Add water, 1 Tbsp at a time, until the dough is just wet enough to roll out as a dough.
4. Roll out the dough ¼ inch thick. Use your favorite cookie cutter to cut the treats out.
5. Place treats on an un-greased cookie sheet and bake for 20* minutes.
6. Store the treats in an airtight container.

*Adjust baking time as needed. The longer they bake, the crunchier they are so it’s really up to your pups’ preferences.

I decided to pair one of the dog-themed Sprinkle Kindness Lunch Notes with the homemade dog treats to give to a friend who just got a new dog. Use tape runner to attach the note to a piece of foil embossed cardstock. Since the back of the paper is blank, it's the perfect spot to add a personal note!

For a little extra shine, I decided to add a little foil to the card. Go over any areas that you want to add foil using a little bit of Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive. I went over all of the bones and the heart on the collar. Let the adhesive dry - you'll know it's dry when it turns clear. 

Cut out a few small pieces from a gold Deco Foil Transfer Sheet and one small piece from a red Deco Foil Transfer Sheet. Place the foil pieces over the glued areas, and apply pressure with your fingers - no heat needed! 

Peel the foil pieces away to reveal the foil. Isn't it adorable? I love how easy it is to add foil accents to paper crafts!

Stack up a few treats and tie them together with some string and place them in a cellophane bag. Tie the bag closed and attach the card. Now you have a gift that every dog owner would be happy to receive. You could even pack up a bunch of these treats and donate them to your local animal shelter!!
