Llamas are all the rage right now, so it's only natural that we would make a fun Llama Valentine Card Box for my daughter to take to her Valentine's Day party this year. This box was a "llama" fun to make, and it was easy to do thanks to some help from the Cricut Maker machine!

If you're looking for more Valentine card boxes, be sure to check out our infamous Unicorn Valentine Card Box, Panda Valentine Card Box, Puppy Valentine Card Box, and Taco Valentine Card Box!

To make your own Llama Valentine Card Box, you'll need these supplies:

Llama Valentine Card Box

Choose a cardboard box. Any box will do! Ours is one from Amazon that measures about 9.5" x 13.5". Close up your cardboard box and tape the seams down. Stand the box up so that it's tall, and carefully cut out a rectangle using a craft knife.

Channel your holiday wrapping skills and wrap the box with white wrapping paper. Try to keep the edges as smooth as you can, and make sure the seams are at the back and top/bottom. We all know how kids are around gifts, so use clear tape to cover as much of the seams as you can so that the paper won't rip or get caught on anything as your child moves the box around the classroom and to/from school.

At the top of the box, feel for the rectangle opening. Use the knife to cut an "X" from corner to corner. Fold the paper inside the box and tape the edges down. You can also add some tape around the opening to add some durability.

Open the Llama Valentine Box project in Design Space. If you are using the same size of box we are, you can click "Make It" to take you directly to the cutting process. Otherwise, click "Customize" to take you into the project to make edits. Measure your box height and width, and create a rectangle in the project that is the same size. Move the llama face over the box and make any size adjustments as needed so that it will fit your box.

The Cricut Maker helped to make this Llama Valentine Card Box such a quick and simple project. I could have tried to cut everything by hand, but I never could have done it as quickly or as accurately as this machine does - especially with all of the different materials I was cutting!

Because the design is so simple, I wanted to add interest by using different paper textures. I used a mix of corrugated cardboardcardstock and glitter cardstock for the llama's face, "hair", and ears.

First, add a little bit of glue to the bottom of the ear pieces. Place the ears at the top edge of the box. Hold in place until the glue has set.

The "hair" sticks off of the edges of the top and sides of the box, so instead of adding glue to the back, put some glue down on the box instead. Place the hair down, and hold in place until the glue has set. Keep in mind that the corrugated cardboard is thicker than cardstock, so it may try to pop up as the glue dries. You can keep it flat by placing something heavy (like a book) on top.

Add some glue to the back of the nose and mouth piece and place it in the center of the box. Hold in place, then glue the eyes down. As you can see, the edges of the glitter cardstock can also pop up as the glue dries. Place something flat and heavy on top while the glue dries to keep everything down flat.

Last, but not least, glue the little rosy cheeks down next to the edges of the mouth. I think we might also add a length of pom pom trim around the bottom edge. My daughter is SO excited about this year's Valentine card box that she asked if we could make some Valentines to match. How could I say no??

Not only did we make a Llama Valentine box, but we made some Valentines to match! These Llama Valentine Treat Boxes are the perfect size to fill with all kinds of goodies to share with friends, and are so easy to make. Not only are they adorable, but they look like little babies to your Llama (mama) Valentine box!

Will you make a Llama Valentine Card Box with your kids?
