Make your Va-LLAMA-ntine's Day extra special with a Llama Valentine Card Box and coordinating Llama Valentine Treat Boxes!

Llamas are all the rage right now, so it's only natural that we would make a fun Llama Valentine Card Box for my daughter to take to her Valentine's Day party this year. This box was a "llama" fun to make, and it was easy to do thanks to some help from the Cricut Maker machine!

To make your own Llama Valentine Card Box, you'll need these supplies:
- Cardboard Box
- Cricut TrueControl Knife
- White Wrapping Paper
- Scissors
- Tape
- Cricut Maker machine
- Llama Valentine Box Design Space Project
- 12x12 Cricut StandardGrip Mat (Green)
- Cricut Corrugated Cardboard, pink
- Cricut Cardstock, light pink
- Cricut Glitter Cardstock, black
- Craft Glue

Choose a cardboard box. Any box will do! Ours is one from Amazon that measures about 9.5" x 13.5". Close up your cardboard box and tape the seams down. Stand the box up so that it's tall, and carefully cut out a rectangle using a Cricut TrueControl Knife.
Channel your holiday wrapping skills and wrap the box with white wrapping paper. Try to keep the edges as smooth as you can, and make sure the seams are at the back and top/bottom. We all know how kids are around gifts, so use clear tape to cover as much of the seams as you can so that the paper won't rip or get caught on anything as your child moves the box around the classroom and to/from school.

At the top of the box, feel for the rectangle opening. Use the TrueControl Knife to cut an "X" from corner to corner. Fold the paper inside the box and tape the edges down. You can also add some tape around the opening to add some durability.

Open the Llama Box project in Design Space. If you are using the same size of box we are, you can click "Make It" to take you directly to the cutting process. Otherwise, click "Customize" to take you into the project to make edits. Measure your box height and width, and create a rectangle in the project that is the same size. Move the llama face over the box and make any size adjustments as needed so that it will fit your box.

The Cricut Maker helped to make this Llama Valentine Card Box such a quick and simple project. I could have tried to cut everything by hand, but I never could have done it as quickly or as accurately as this machine does - especially with all of the different materials I was cutting!

First, add a little bit of glue to the bottom of the ear pieces. Place the ears at the top edge of the box. Hold in place until the glue has set.

The "hair" sticks off of the edges of the top and sides of the box, so instead of adding glue to the back, put some glue down on the box instead. Place the hair down, and hold in place until the glue has set. Keep in mind that the Cricut Corrugated Cardboard is thicker than cardstock, so it may try to pop up as the glue dries. You can keep it flat by placing something heavy (like a book) on top.

Last, but not least, glue the little rosy cheeks down next to the edges of the mouth. I think we might also add a length of pom pom trim around the bottom edge. My daughter is SO excited about this year's Valentine card box that she asked if we could make some Valentines to match. How could I say no??

To make your own Llama Valentine Treat Boxes, you'll need these supplies:
- Cricut Maker machine
- Cricut Scoring Wheel Tip + Drive Housing or Cricut Scoring Stylus
- Llama Valentine Treat Box Design Space Project
- 12x12 Cricut StandardGrip Mat (Green)
- Cricut Glitter Gel Pen, black
- Cricut Corrugated Cardboard, pink

Open up the Llama Valentine Treat Box project in Design Space. If you want to make it exactly how it is shown here in the tutorial, you can click "Make It" to take you directly to the cutting process. If you'd like to make adjustments, you need to click "Customize". Once in the canvas, you can easily make edits to colors and image sizes.

Cut the box piece out of white Cricut Cardstock. You'll also need to use the Cricut Scoring Wheel Tip + Drive Housing or Cricut Scoring Stylus to make score lines on the box template. This will help you to get clean folds when you assemble the box. I also added a punny message of "Llama Be Your Valentine" for the Cricut to write in Glitter Gel Pen on the box.

Glue the pieces of the llama's face on the box the same way as the Valentine card box. Easy, right?
After the face is glued on, the next step is assembling the box. Add some glue to the tab on the left side of the box. Bring the other side of the box around and place the tab underneath. Hold in place until the glue has set.

Fold in the bottom tabs and bottom end of the box. The opposite side of the box is blank, so you could use this space to add to/from names, or a personal message. You can add this on after the box is assembled, or even type it all in while you have the project open in Design Space.

Fill the boxes with Valentine surprises and close it up. Now they are ready to hand out to friends, family, and classmates!

These Llama Valentine Treat Boxes are definitely one-of-a-kind, and are sure to bring a smile to everyone's face this Valentine's Day. They were so much fun to put together, and the Cricut really brought our idea to life. The boxes were even easy enough for my daughter to do on her own - which makes them a win for me!
