Whether you are throwing a party or just want to enjoy some dessert with the family, EDWARDS® Whole Pies are an affordable and delicious way to celebrate. Your pie will look even more appetizing on this easy DIY Pie Stand, and it will only cost you a few dollars to create!

Save time and money at your next party with EDWARDS® Whole Pies!

Pie is one of my family's favorite desserts. Though I do enjoy baking, pie has been one thing that I just can't perfect. Edwards Whole Pies are a simple, yet delicious dessert to share with friends and family without you having to spend the time making it. The frozen whole pies come in a variety of flavors, so there's something for everyone.

I found our personal favorites (HERSHEY’S® Chocolate Crème Pie and Edwards Turtle Pie) at Walmart for only $4.97 each, so it's a really affordable option for any occasion! To save even more money, you can get $1.00 off on any ONE (1) EDWARDS® Whole Pie by taking advantage of the Walmart EDWARDS Ibotta digital rebate (while supplies last).

Not only are these pie stands super chic, but they are also super affordable!! I found a glass plate and a glass candlestick at the dollar store. You could also go thrifting and find all kinds of awesome plates and candlesticks for next to nothing. Don't be afraid to get creative.

You'll also need some kind of strong glue that will bond glass together. I personally prefer to use Original Gorilla Glue. Super glues would also work well as long as the package mentions that it works well on glass.

Clean the plate and the candlestick, and dry thoroughly. Add a THIN line of Gorilla Glue along the top edge of the candlestick. The glue expands as it dries, so you don't need much at all to bond the glass objects together.

Place the candlestick (glue side down) to the center of the underside of the plate. Place something heavy on top of the candlestick and let it sit for at least a few hours to dry.

Once the glue has set, your pie stand is ready for use! Probably the most impressive $2 you've ever spent, huh?! The best part is, is that it's totally washable (by hand only). Wipe the top of the plate clean with a wet rag & a little dish soap, and dry it off.

I would highly recommend keeping water away from the glue. Not only could it cause problems with the glue, but there may be small openings around the glue that water could seep into, which could lead to water getting trapped in the candlestick... Yuck.

While the clear pie stand looks gorgeously classic, I also wanted to experiment in adding some color! Grab your plate and candlestick, and then choose your favorite spray paint (check the label to make sure it will work on glass!). I chose Krylon Cover Maxx in Sea Glass with a satin finish. Looking back, I would recommend getting a paint with a gloss finish instead.

Paint the candlestick and the UNDERSIDE of the plate. By spraying the underside of the plate, it leaves the top of the plate food safe! So no worrying about paint coming off on your food or having any problems. Paint 2-3 coats on both the candlestick and the plate, letting the paint dry completely between coats. Once dry, add a couple of coats of clear spray paint or a polyurethane spray paint to help give your pie stand some extra protection.

Once the paint is dry, glue the pieces together with some Gorilla Glue. Let dry for a few hours and admire your colorful pie plate! I love that you can see the plate pattern through the top of the plate along with the color. Having the paint underneath the plate also makes it easy (and safe) to wipe your pie stand down after your party is done.

Now that the pie stands are completed, you are ready to beautifully display your Edwards pies for dessert! These stands would also be a pretty (and affordable) addition to your party table; whether it's at a summer dinner party or at a wedding.

All of Edwards pies are delicious! The HERSHEY’S® Chocolate Crème Pie is rich and chocolatey, with a delicious cookie crust. I'm looking forward to trying more pie flavors with my family as a cool treat this summer, and might even sneak a piece once in a while myself to unwind at the end of a busy day.

Which flavors of pies are you going to try?

  2. Love the colour of the stand. I actually have a beautiful glass cake stand that belonged to my grandmother and I'd love to paint it but haven't got them courage to do it yet.

  5. You can get glue that is water resistant and clear....it is made for marine use. It is stinky and very sticky! That way you wouldn't have to worry about keeping your darling pie stand away from water!
