Hulk Cake Pops

Hulk Cake Pops at artsyfartsymama.com

My daughter's favorite Avengers character is The Hulk. I'm not quite sure if it's because he's green and towers over his fellow superheroes, or if it's just because he likes to smash everything to bits. Either way, I must agree that he is pretty awesome. In anticipation of MARVEL's The Avengers: Age of Ultron coming to theaters on May 1st, we made some Hulk Cake Pops together for a girl's night!!

To make these cake pops, you'll need:
Cake Mix - any flavor! (You 'll also need the additional ingredients listed on the box)
Candy Sticks
Green Candy Melts
Oreo's
Black Writing Gel
Cake Pop Maker

Prep:
  1. In a mixing bowl combine the cake mix ingredients as directed.
  2. Twist 6-10 Oreo's apart and place the side with the least amount of frosting on it into a plastic bag. (You want to use the non-frosted sides, otherwise the Hulk pops will have more of an aged look with white "hair" showing through...)
  3. Let the kids go Hulk-wild and SMASH those Oreo's to crumbs (you could also use a food processor, but acting like the Hulk is more fun!!). While the kids are smashing Oreo's, take a break and enjoy the frosted Oreo sides with a glass of cold milk.

I prefer to make cake pops with a cake pop maker. Using a cake pop maker gives the pops a cake texture and are made in about 4-6 minutes. However, if you don't have a cake pop maker, don't worry!! Simply bake your cake in a 9x13 pan. Let it cool after baking, then channel your inner Hulk and SMASH that cake up!! Mix in some frosting, and form cake balls with your hands.

Melt a few pieces of candy melts and dip one end of the candy stick in it. Then, push the candy stick into the cake pop. Place the cake pop stick side up in a cake pop stand or in a container and place in the freezer for a few minutes. The chocolate will help give the cake pop stability and keep the stick in place while dipping.

Heat up more candy melts according to package directions. Dip the cake pops into the candy melts, then hold and turn the pop over the bowl to let the excess drip off. Once it cools enough, you can stand the pop up on a cake pop stand or in some styrofoam to set. Repeat for all the cake pops.

Add a little bit of melted candy melt on the top of the Hulk's head where you want the hair to go. Sprinkle some crushed Oreo over the candy melt until you get the coverage you want. The smaller the Oreo crumbs, the better.

Use some black writing gel to draw a Hulk face, and your Hulk cake pops are done! These cake pops are fun to share at Hulk or Avenger-themed birthday parties, or just for fun. My daughter and I enjoyed making these together at our Avenger-themed girl's night!!
