Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken

This easy recipe for Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken takes less than 10 minutes to prep, and is so much better than takeout!

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken

My family loves teriyaki chicken, and we go out to dinner pretty often to get some. To save some money and time during busy weeknights, I make this Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken instead. It's so easy and only takes about 10 minutes of prep time (at the most). Pretty much all you have to do is stir everything together and pour it into the slow cooker, and then let the appliance do the rest of the work for you! This recipe has become a family favorite, and I'd dare say that it's better than takeout!!

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken

This recipe for Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken is extremely simple, and requires only 8 simple ingredients:
  • Chicken: Cut chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
  • Corn Starch: helps to thicken the teriyaki sauce.
  • Soy Sauce: this is where most of the flavor comes from! I would recommend using a low-sodium soy sauce to keep the dish from getting too salty.
  • Brown Sugar & Honey: these ingredients add that extra sweetness to this dish, and compliments the saltiness of the soy sauce.
  • Garlic & Ginger: this flavorful duo packs some spice and extra flavor to the dish.
  • Sesame Oil: adds a nutty flavor that is a staple in Asian cuisine.

In a large mixing bowl, add the cubed chicken and cornstarch. Stir well until each piece has been coated.

In another large mixing bowl, whisk the remaining ingredients together to create the teriyaki sauce. This sauce also makes a great marinade. You can mix up the sauce and marinate the chicken overnight to make it more tender and flavorful.

Add the chicken to the slow cooker, and then slowly pour the sauce mixture on top. Cook for 4 hours on high. The chicken should be cooked all the way through and the sauce will thicken.

You can also add extra ingredients to your teriyaki chicken! Add diced pineapple at the end of cooking, or stir in broccoli florets and/or other stir fry vegetables during the last hour of cooking.

  1. Looks great, I'm so making this tomorrow! I've heard you can put cooked chicken breasts in your kitchenaid it will shred them perfectly without getting your hands dirty. Have you ever added veggies while cooking?
