This colorful Patriotic Fruit Salad combines fresh fruits coated in a sweet honey citrus sauce for a 4th of July side dish that everyone will love!

Fruit salad is a must-have at any summer barbecue or gathering. This Patriotic Fruit Salad consists of watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and pineapple coated in a honey-citrus dressing. Of course, you can easily swap out or add fruit to your liking! It's such an easy recipe and is a go-to side dish or dessert that is always a hit at our Memorial Day and 4th of July parties.

This Patriotic Fruit Salad couldn't be easier to make, and is a great patriotic side dish or dessert to share with your family or with friends at a Memorial Day or 4th of July party. Here's what you'll need:
(Specific measurements and full recipe instructions are found below)
- watermelon - cut into even, bite-sized cubes
- pineapple - fresh or canned, cut into cubes (or use canned cubed pineapple). Cut larger pineapple pieces into star shapes by hand or with a small cookie cutter
- strawberries - Washed and cut in quarters
- blueberries - wash well before combining with other fruits
- raspberries - rinse well
- honey - honey substitutes, like maple syrup, can also be used
- lemon juice - use bottled or fresh lemon juice, lime juice, or orange juice
- mint - adds a fresh, cool flavor that compliments the fruit
Other fruit options to add or replace with the ones listed above:
- Bananas (will brown quickly)
- White Peaches
- Nectarines
- Pears
- Red Grapes
- Green Grapes
- Cherries
- Apples (will brown quickly)
- White Melons
- Blackberries
You can also garnish the salad with shredded coconut, mini marshmallows, chopped nuts, sunflower seeds, or whipped cream. You will also need both small and large mixing bowls.

Wash, cut, and combine all of the fruit in a large mixing bowl. In a separate small mixing bowl, combine lemon juice and honey until the honey has dissolved. Pour the lemon-honey mixture over the fruit and toss to coat.


Patriotic Fruit Salad
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 1 cup watermelon, cubed
- ½ cup pineapple, cubed, plus extra for star-shaped slices
- ⅔ cup blueberries
- ½ cup raspberries
- 1 cup strawberries, quartered
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 3 tbsp honey
Instructions:
- Cut pineapple and watermelon into cubes. Set aside.
- Cut 10-15 additional pieces of pineapple into star shapes and set aside.
- Thoroughly wash the blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries, then gently pat them dry with a paper towel. Set aside.
- Remove the stems from the strawberries and cut into quarters.
- Add lemon juice and honey to a small mixing bowl. Stir well until the honey is fully dissolved.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the quartered strawberries, cubed pineapple, watermelon, blueberries, and raspberries.
- Pour the the lemon-honey mixture over the fruit. Gently toss, coating the fruit evenly.
- Cover and refrigerate the salad for about 5 minutes to let the flavors start to combine.
- Before serving, top the fruit salad with the star-shaped pineapple slices. Add fresh mint for an extra touch of flavor and visual appeal.
Tips:
- Storage: Fruit salad is best served the same day, but leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for about 3-5 days. Top with additional lemon juice, and expect the fruits to brown within a few days.
