Button Flower Pins

Make some beautiful Button Flower Pins to wear on Mother's Day!

Buttons are such a fun craft supply because the options are endless! These Button Flower Pins are incredibly simple to make, and can be used in so many ways. Crafters of any age can make this project, and I think it would be a sweet handmade gift for kids to make for Mother's Day. Instead of wearing a real flower, moms, aunts, and grandmothers can wear this button flower pin as a brooch that will last a lifetime.

To make your own Button Flower Pins, you will need these supplies:

• Buttons - variety of sizes, shapes, and colors
• Felt
• Glue Gun or Strong Adhesive
• Scissors
• Bar Pins

Sort through your buttons collection to find five matching medium-sized buttons and one large, decorative button in a coordinating color. I really liked the simplicity and neutral color of the white buttons paired with the larger blue button. If you want a little more texture and color on your flower, select 5 smaller-sized buttons that coordinate with the other buttons. Of course, I couldn't resist using these glittered buttons!!

Arrange the medium buttons in a circle, and roughly cut a square of felt a little larger than the buttons. Use a glue gun or strong adhesive to stick the buttons into place on the felt.

Next, arrange the smaller buttons on top of the medium buttons, but over the edges of the buttons so they are offset. This makes the buttons look a bit more flower-like. Once you have them arranged how you want them, glue the buttons into place.

Last, place the large button in the open center of the button circle. Use a good amount of glue to hold it in place. Let the adhesive dry completely.

Once the adhesive is dry, use scissors to carefully cut the felt just underneath the edges of the bottom buttons. If the glue isn't set, your button flower will come apart during this step!

Turn the button flower over, and glue a bar pin to the back. Let the adhesive dry completely.

Now the button flower pin can be attached to a dress or shirt to wear proudly on Mother's Day! Isn't this so pretty? I love the combinations of these buttons, and never would have thought to put them together if it wasn't for this project.

This is another flower for someone who appreciates a vintage-style button. I love how these button colors and styles look together!!

When pinned to a lapel or outfit in a coordinating color, the Button Flower Pin just pops! This will be such a statement piece that everyone will be talking about. 

Last, but not least was this very simple rose button pin. Because this rose button was larger, I used just one bottom layer instead of two and kept that layer of buttons very simple in design.

I love how this pin looks when attached to a crocheted bag. Such a sweet and simple design, but looks so pretty and chic!
