5 Ski Trip Tips with LEGO Friends

Utah has gorgeous mountains and has some of the best skiing resorts in the nation. As soon as the weather starts getting cooler here, it can only mean one thing: ski season is on its way! Whether you're a pro skier or preparing for your first run, here's 5 helpful tips from LEGO Friends to keep you safe on the slopes.

Before you get started on your skiing adventure, you need to make sure you are wearing the right clothing. Of course you'll need warm waterproof pants, gloves, and a coat, but you also need to consider what to wear underneath. Make sure your arms and legs are fully covered in comfortable clothes that don't itch or rub. Layers are the key to keeping warm and not overheating - you can always take layers off if you get too warm.

No matter your skiing ability, remember to always wear a helmet! To prevent other injuries, make sure that your goggles, bindings and ski boots fit properly. Keep safe, follow the rules, and always ski with a buddy.

5 Ski Trip Tips with LEGO Friends

Tip #1 It's always safer to ski with a friend. Before you hit the slopes, grab a map, agree to your goals for the day, and remember to pace yourself. Some people head right for the black diamonds, but a real pro warms up before cutting loose on the tougher runs!

Tip #2 Wait your turn at the lift and try not to step on anyone’s skis. Don’t forget to mind those ski poles! Accidents happen more often when we're distracted.

Tip #3 The mountain is beautiful, so enjoy your ride on the lift - but give yourself enough time to be prepared to exit when the time comes.

Tip #4 Skiing burns a lot of energy. Even though you might be tired, your fellow skiers and shredders want to keep moving! If you need to stop and take a break, move to the side of the slope so you don't injure yourself or others. While you're resting, make sure to eat and drink to get your energy back up.

Tip #5 At the end of the day, make time to unwind at the lodge. Recap with friends your favorite moments and celebrate each other for a great day of active fun!

5 Ski Trip Tips and LEGO Friends Snow Resort Chalet set review

While waiting for winter to officially get here, my daughter and I have been skiing the days away at home with the LEGO Friends Snow Resort Chalet set. Recommended for ages 7-12, this 402 piece set includes easy-to-follow instructions for an age-appropriate build and play experience!

You can complete the skiing scene by combining all of the LEGO Friends ski sets: Snow Resort Ski Lift, Snow Resort Ice RinkSnow Resort Hot Chocolate Van, and the Snow Resort Off-Roader.

The LEGO Friends Snow Resort Chalet includes a 2-story lodge with working doors and windows, snowmobile, ski storage, Andrea and Amy mini-doll figures in winter outfits, plus a Luna the husky figure. There's also fun accessories like skis, a wooden trunk, board game, snow resort flyer, mobile phone, action camera, perfume bottles, and dog food.

Turn the lodge around to use the inside. On the floor level is the kitchen, lounge area with fireplace, and a dining area with table and chairs. The bedroom is upstairs with 3 beds.

After returning to the lodge, the Friends can heat up some hot cocoa on the stove or cook up something in the oven. They can sit to enjoy their food on the stools at the counter, lounge on the sofa or relax on the rug in front of the log fire. Accessories for the kitchen include cups, pot, cheese, croissant, and more!

The Friends can relax after a busy day on the slopes in the bedroom where there's 3 beds, a vanity and a dog bed for Luna. The drawer in the vanity even opens to store perfume bottles, lipstick, and other small accessories!

If you need a little more room upstairs or have a few extra guests, simply open up the roof! My daughter used extra pieces from other sets to make more beds for so other Friends could come have fun at the lodge.

Warm up after a long day in the snow in the hot tub on the side of the house. Since the mini-doll figures are in their winter outfits, you might have to pretend that they aren't when they're in the hot tub. Or do like we did and switch out the bodies from the LEGO Friends Heartlake Summer Pool set!

In the daytime, Amy and Andrea can take the snowmobile out for a spin. There's a space for everyone, including Luna the husky! You can attach the skis, poles, and even the camera in front to capture your trip.

Once they reach the slopes, Amy can help Andrea learn to ski! Place the skis in the stand while Amy shows Andrea the map, and shares important skiing safety tips.

Next, Andrea puts on the skis and holds the poles while Amy shows her the basics of skiing. Have fun using your imagination to hit the slopes and have a fun time with friends in the snow!

LEGO Friends sets are adorably detailed, creative, and fun. My daughter spends countless hours building, playing, and rebuilding these sets. I would definitely recommend them if you're looking for holiday gift ideas or something new for your child to build.

Do you have any skiing tips to add to the list?

  1. This set is awesome. I purchased this for my daughter last month for Christmas and was so tempted to take it out of the box and start putting it together. She got the ski lift for her birthday so I'm hoping she'll enjoy the rest of this set! Great post!
