Merry Days Plaque

Merry Days Plaque at artsyfartsymama.com #Christmas #holidaydecor

As I've mentioned hundreds of times before, I really enjoy creating holiday decor. There's just something about the Christmas season that brings so much joy, and I love being able to bring that into our home. I found this Merry Days Plaque at Poppy Seed Projects, and absolutely love the message. It brings together the fun part of Christmas while reminding us of the real reason we celebrate.

The Merry Days Plaque kit comes with a large wood plaque, small wood plaque, vinyl, and instructions.

Along with the kit contents, I also used:
Americana Acrylic Paint in Turquoise Blue
Blue Glitter
White Opalescent Glitter
Mod Podge

First, I painted the small wood plaque with Americana Acrylic in Turquoise Blue. It needed about 2 coats. While that was drying, I mixed together some Mod Podge and white opalescent glitter in a small, disposable cup. Then, I painted a thick layer on the large wood plaque. Let dry completely. Once the blue paint was dry, I mixed together some Mod Podge and blue glitter in a small, disposable cup. Then, I painted a thick layer of the mixture on the small wood plaque.

When both plaques are dry (no longer tacky), I glued the small plaque on top of the large plaque with E6000. Make sure to measure each side to check that the small plaque is centered.

Next, remove the vinyl from the backing (with the included transfer sheet) and place the vinyl on the small wood plaque. Since the glitter & Mod Podge make the board slightly textured, you'll need to put a lot of pressure when adhering the vinyl.

Once you make sure all the vinyl edges are down, give the board a good coat of polyurethane spray paint to help protect the vinyl. Add a sawtooth hanger to the back of the large board and hang on the wall.

Happy Holidays!!

Disclosure: I received the Merry Days Plaque in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

  1. Darling! Of course you used glitter. Glitter makes everything better! I love the idea to mix it with the Mod Podge, why haven't I ever thought of that?!
