Glitter your hearts out with these easy to make DIY Glitter Flower Pots!

DIY Glitter Flower Pots

There's so many creative ways to paint a planter, like nail polish marbling or painting with spray paint. Here's one more way to make a plain flower pot cheerful and glamorous. These DIY Glitter Flower Pots are easy to make, and most importantly - the glitter application isn't a nightmare! You can create these flower pots to add some colorful sparkle to your home, or give them out for Mother's Day.

Supplies:

First, you need a flower pot that you can paint. I am really loving these ceramic flower pots from Oriental Trading. The terra cotta pots I used for the Gold Ombre Planters are also great, but I really like how these ones are already white, ready to paint, and have a glossy coat on the inside.

Paint a coat of FolkArt Color Shift Metallic Paint on the outside of the pot. For this pot, I used Purple Flash. My favorite thing about these paints is the metallic luster that shifts in changing light! Let the paint dry completely, then add another coat if you need more coverage.

After the paint has dried, you can add some sparkle! Glitterific paint is my new favorite!! It's filled with multiple-sized glitter particles suspended in a crystal clear base to makes the glitter application completely mess-free. No dumping glitter over paper and then spilling it all over the floor. One coat around the bottom of the flower pot and I was done! Since the base dries clear and glossy, you don't need to add an additional sealer. Plus, the glitter is held in place - even when you touch it!

Once the Glitterific paint has dried, the flower pot is complete! You can create different looks depending on the paint color combinations you use. For this flower pot, the base is Purple Flash with Blue Moon.

Since I can't keep a plant alive (I consider my home a hospice for plants), FloraCraft succulent picks look amazing in the DIY Glitter Flower Pots! After you choose a succulent pick (there are a ton to choose from), add a piece of floral foam into the pot and arrange the picks. Pour in some small river rocks, and the glitter flower pots are ready to put on display!

  1. I was thinking of making these pots for a birthday party craft. Does the paint dry quickly enough to be completed within a 2 hour timeframe?
