Keep kids learning this summer with fun and educational games from PlayMonster!

My family enjoys playing games together. We have a wide range of board, card and dice games and each have our favorites. My daughter loves strategic and quick-thinking games, and I'm always looking for creative ways to boost her critical thinking and fine motor skills. Word Shout and Grabolo from PlayMonster are a couple of our favorite games that are both entertaining and educational. So while you're kids are out of school for the summer, keep their brains working while you have FUN with these games from PlayMonster!

Keep Kids Learning this Summer with Word Shout from PlayMonster

Word Shout is a quick-thinking word-grabbing game! You never know what words the roll of the letter dice will make...just find them fast and shout them out to be sure you get them before anyone else! This is a great game for kids who are learning to spell, and a fun way for the rest of us to sharpen our vocabulary skills!

Keep Kids Learning this Summer with Word Shout from PlayMonster

To play Word Shout, you just need 10 lettered dice. All 10 dice fit neatly into a reusable plastic click case to keep them all in one place for you to play again and again.

The youngest player goes first, and rolls all 10 dice. All players need to pay attention, because speed matters in this game! Everyone looks at the dice (no touching or moving them around) and tries to form at least 3-letter words.

When you find a word, SHOUT it out and take the dice! Everyone continues searching for words from the remaining dice until they have all been taken or when no more words can be formed.

Count how many dice you have collected and that's your score for that round. The scorekeeper records and adds scores after each round. The object of the game is to be the first player to reach 50 points!

This is such a fun game for us to play, and each round goes quickly. My daughter has gotten so quick at finding and putting words together and the game has helped her build her vocabulary. I also love how portable the game is so we can take it everywhere with us.

Word Shout is recommended for 2 to 4 players ages 8 and up. The game contains 10 Word Shout dice, reusable plastic click case, and rules. You can purchase Word Shout at PlayMonster for $7.59.

Keep Kids Learning this Summer with Grabolo from PlayMonster

Grabolo is an awesome game that boosts those visual motor skills, eye-hand coordination and visual scanning. A roll of the dice will tell you which color/number card combination to grab, but you have to act fast! The first player to grab it keeps it, but beware...it could get stolen later!

Keep Kids Learning this Summer with Grabolo from PlayMonster

The game comes with two dice: a number die (1-6) and a color die (red, yellow, blue, purple, green, black) and 36 cards: a set of 6 for each color.

Keep Kids Learning this Summer with Grabolo from PlayMonster

Start by laying all 36 cards out on a table, face up. Roll the dice to get a number and color combination. ALL players need to try to be the FIRST to claim that card with the matching combination by placing their hand over it!

Keep Kids Learning this Summer with Grabolo from PlayMonster

The quickest player takes the card and places it face down in front of them. Keep taking turns rolling the dice and collecting cards.

Keep Kids Learning this Summer with Grabolo from PlayMonster

The cards will start to dwindle down and soon you may come across a combination that isn't on the table anymore! That means one of the players has that card, and now you have the opportunity to guess who has it so you can steal it for yourself. Be careful though! If you guess wrong, one of YOUR cards gets put back on the table for someone else to steal!

The player who gets the most amount of cards collected is the winner!

Keep Kids Learning this Summer with Grabolo from PlayMonster

Grabolo is recommended for 3 to 5 players ages 6 and up. The game contains 36 cards, 2 dice, and rules. You can purchase Grabolo at PlayMonster for $11.99.

Fruity Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space!

Fruity Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space! #CricutMade

With summer on its way, I wanted to make a little treat for my husband to share with his coworkers and fellow teachers to wish them a "sweet" summer break! I was searching for inspiration in Cricut Design Space, and came across these adorable Summer Bag Toppers as a "Make It Now" project. In just a few minutes, I was able to create something special to share with friends. I'm excited to share how you can do it, too!

Fruity Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space! #CricutMade

1. Log in to Cricut Design Space. In the drop down categories box (top right corner), select "Summer" to bring up all of the summer-themed Make It Now projects.
2. Open up the Summer Bag Toppers canvas that I've saved for you, or you can scroll through the Cricut Image Library to find the project.
3. Once you've found the image, you'll see that there is a list of materials and instructions. If you'd like to make the project as shown, click "Make It Now" and it will take you directly to cutting. My bag toppers are slightly different, so by clicking "customize", you can make a few adjustments to the project.

At the bottom of the screen, you'll see that this project costs $2.97. However, if you subscribe to a Cricut Access monthly OR yearly membership plan (that you can cancel anytime), you get instant access to the 1,000 Make It Now projects, including these Summer Bag Toppers!! With a subscription, you also get additional benefits of unlimited use of images and fonts, as well as discounts on purchases made on the Cricut website. Once you've subscribed, you can get to work creating all the available Make It Now projects in Design Space with the green "a" Cricut Access symbol!

Fruity Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space! #CricutMade

After you select "Customize", you will be taken to the Design Space canvas to make adjustments to the project. The original Summer Bag Toppers project makes three different 3" x 3.5" bag toppers. I only wanted to make the watermelon and "lemon" toppers, so the first step is to delete the "Smile" bag topper. All you need to do is select that design, and click "delete". Easy enough, right?

Fruity Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space! #CricutMade

Now to make that orange look more like a lemon! Click on the thumbnails of the design in the "Layers" panel to bring up the color palette. I changed the color of the outer circle and the segments of the lemon to "Candycorn". The main reason for doing this is because Design Space likes to help you make things easy when it's time to cut. If your design is in different colors on the canvas, your project will be organized into different mats. I wanted to make sure I was cutting all of the yellow objects on the same mat, so I selected the same color for each part of the design.

Fruity Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space! #CricutMade

My treat bags are 4" wide, so I resized the bag toppers to 4.25" wide so that they would fit well. Each of the bag toppers are "attached", or grouped together. So all you need to do is select each bag topper and change the size in the "Edit" panel.

Now we're ready to cut! Click the green "Go" image at the top of the screen with the Cricut logo.

Fruity Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space! #CricutMade

The next screen shows all the mats you'll need, separated into the different colors. You can make slight adjustments at this point, such as mirroring (for iron-on), changing mat sizes, etc.

Fruity Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space! #CricutMade

The next step is to adjust the Smart Set dial to point at cardstock (whatever material you will be cutting). You'll see in the program what the dial is currently set to, so there's no worry. Don't see your material in the circle? Set the dial to "custom" and you can choose your material from a dropdown list under the "Set" step.

The dial saves the headache of having to manually adjust the blade depth or speed settings, and you to get the perfect cut the first time!

The arrow button below the dial will begin flashing to prompt you to load the mat. The program also reminds you to complete this step and won't allow you to cut without doing it. Once your mat is properly loaded, the button with the Cricut logo will begin flashing, which means "GO" and that you're ready to cut your project out.

Lemon Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space! #CricutMade

The next step is to get the materials ready. For the Lemon Bag Topper, you'll need a 12x12 adhesive cutting mat, a Scoring Stylus, some yellow cardstock and some white glitter cardstock.

Lemon Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space! #CricutMade

The scoring stylus marks horizontal lines across the white and yellow pieces of the lemon. Fold the circles along that fold line. Use some clear adhesive (I love Aleene's) to glue white glitter cardstock on top of the yellow cardstock.

Next, arrange 4 triangle segments on both sides of the bag topper and glue them down. Let the glue dry completely.

Pour some lemon candy into a clear treat bag, fold the top over and close with a piece of tape. Add a glue dot under each side of the lemon bag topper, fold it over the top of the treat bag. Press it down so that the glue dot sticks well.

Watermelon Summer Bag Toppers are an easy Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space! #CricutMade

For the Watermelon Bag Topper, you'll need a 12x12 adhesive cutting mat, a Scoring Stylus, black & white cardstock, and I also chose Dark Rose & Dark Green from the Cricut Brights Glitter Cardstock Sampler.

With paper crafts, I like to mix up glitter and regular cardstocks. Fold the pieces along the score lines, then assemble with adhesive.

Glue the white cardstock over the green glitter cardstock. Let it dry, then stick the pink glitter on top of the white. Place 5 black seeds on each side of the bag topper and let it dry completely.

Fill up a treat bag with watermelon candy, then attach the watermelon bag topper to the treat bag with glue dots.

These Fruity Summer Bag Toppers are a lot of fun to make and are an easy paper craft that is perfect for summer! We are planning on sharing these with friends at school to wish them a "sweet" summer vacation!

Yoda Father's Day Shirt

This a sponsored post with Expressions Vinyl and may contain affiliate links.

Make dad a Yoda Father's Day Shirt with HTV from Expressions Vinyl and free cut file!

Use HTV from Expressions Vinyl to make dad a Yoda Father's Day Shirt with free cut file!

My daughter and I have given my husband a superhero shirt of some kind for every Father's Day since she was born. We've also given hime some for Christmas, birthday, and just for fun. Needless to say, we're starting to run out of t-shirt options.

For this Father's Day, we decided together that we would MAKE him his very own shirt instead. Yoda from Star Wars may not be your traditional superhero, but he IS pretty awesome!! So with some help from Expressions VinylCricut, and our incredible love of puns, we were able to create the coolest shirt in the galaxy for the best dad ever!!

Use HTV from Expressions Vinyl to make dad a Yoda Father's Day Shirt with free cut file!

All you need to make this shirt is a blank gray (or white) t-shirt, Stretch Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) (black and green apple), and a cutting machine like the Cricut Explore Air 2.

Upload the Yoda Father's Day Shirt cut file into Design Space and size the image to fit your shirt. Don't forget to mirror the image before cutting!!

*Here's a great tutorial on how to upload your own images into Cricut Design Space.

Use HTV from Expressions Vinyl to make dad a Yoda Father's Day Shirt with free cut file!

After the vinyl has been cut, you'll need to "weed" the vinyl. Start by carefully peeling away excess vinyl (or the largest parts of the design that you won't be using) with your fingers. For smaller areas like the insides of letters you'll need to use a weeding tool.

Use HTV from Expressions Vinyl to make dad a Yoda Father's Day Shirt with free cut file!

Now the design is ready to be placed on the shirt! The heat transfer vinyl has a tacky liner on top of it so that you can place the vinyl on your project and keep it in place. I often have trouble getting the vinyl centered on the shirt, so I've been using this little trick to save me some time.

Fold the shirt in half and iron to make a crease down the center of the shirt. Fold the HTV liner in half and make a crease at the top and bottom of the liner (NOT the vinyl). Line up the HTV liner fold marks on the crease in the shirt. Voila! Now your vinyl is centered! Press the liner down so it sticks well to the shirt.

Use HTV from Expressions Vinyl to make dad a Yoda Father's Day Shirt with free cut file!

Getting the vinyl to stick to your shirt is easy!
  1. Set your iron to the cotton/linen setting with the steam OFF.
  2. Lightly preheat the area with the iron for 10-15 seconds. This really does help!
  3. Place your HTV liner side UP on the shirt. You can iron over the liner, or place a light cloth on top.
  4. Apply medium pressure with the iron for 15 seconds.
  5. Flip the shirt over and apply medium pressure with the iron to the back for an additional 20 seconds.
  6. Carefully peel up a corner of the HTV liner. If you have any vinyl that didn't stick or if edges are flipping up, press the liner back down and re-iron the pieces or loose edges with the iron tip for 10 seconds.
  7. Peel up the liner while it's still hot, or you can let it cool first if you are worried about burning your fingers.

Use HTV from Expressions Vinyl to make dad a Yoda Father's Day Shirt with free cut file!

My daughter and I really enjoyed making this shirt and are thinking of even more ideas for fun superhero shirts to make for him in the future! The vinyl holds up great in the wash. If your vinyl appears to be coming off at all, you can iron over it again (with a cloth on top) and it should re-stick.

Grab the Yoda Father's Day Shirt cut file* to make the dad in your life a shirt of his own!

Free Printable LEGO Batman Movie Bingo

Sponsored by LEGO®, get ready for the LEGO Batman Movie DVD release by building LEGO Batman BrickHeadz and playing Free Printable LEGO Batman Movie Bingo!

Download Free Printable LEGO Batman Movie Bingo

We saw the LEGO Batman Movie a few months ago and absolutely loved it! Everything about this movie is AWESOME!! We are counting down the days until we own it on DVD (June 13th!) and are planning on playing this Free Printable LEGO Batman Movie Bingo while we watch it!

LEGO Batman Movie Bingo includes all of your favorite characters, including Batman (of course), Batgirl, Joker, Robin, as well as a few new ones you might not recognize yet if you haven't seen the movie! The bingo set includes ten bingo cards, so it's easy to print and use for parties. It's fun for every age to play. The calling cards also include the names of the characters in case you don't know who they are.

(Set includes 10 bingo cards and calling cards in a single PDF file)

Download Free Printable LEGO Batman Movie Bingo

The blank set works a little differently. You get one bingo card with empty spaces (except for the "free" spot). Then print and cut out the bingo pieces so you can assemble the bingo cards yourself! Just glue the pieces in place and you're ready to play!

This is a great option for little hands that want to be creative, or if you have a larger group of people and don't want multiple cards that are the same. The blank bingo set includes all the same characters as the full set, but you can create your own bingo card setup.

(Set includes one blank bingo card, bingo pieces, and calling cards in a single PDF file)

Game Instructions
1. Pick some kind of object to mark your squares (LEGOs, candy, glass gems, buttons, etc)
2. Give each player a bingo card and markers (or put your own card together with the blank set).
3. Have each player put a marker over the free space.
4. Have one person choose a calling card and say it out loud. Each player will cover that item on their card with a marker.
5. Once a player has 5 squares covered in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), call out "BINGO!" and win the game!

Some things you should know before downloading:

To lengthen the life of the prints, I would recommend printing the bingo cards and calling cards on cardstock. All sets are 8.5x11 inches and combined in a single PDF format.
