Ultimate Shopkins Easter Basket

Shopkins have been slowly taking over our house over the past year. Whenever my daughter earns some screen time, she immediately puts on her headphones to watch unboxing videos done by her fellow Shopkin fanatics. She's even done a few unboxing videos of her own! Because of this passion for tiny supermarket figures, I decided to put together the Ultimate Shopkins Easter Basket!

The fun part about creating a Shopkins-themed Easter basket is that you can choose to spend as much or as little money as you want. Just keep your eyes open for sales, and Shopkins accessories in unexpected places. From tiny stickers to t-shirts, there's a lot of fun items that you can add for just a few of dollars!

As I was perusing the Target Dollar Spot/Bullseye's Playground (my favorite), I came across a whole lot of Shopkins paraphernalia. Jackpot! The giant pencil is a favorite amongst her classmates, and the Shopkins character erasers will go great with it. I also found a cute Shopkins stationery set with pen, notebook and little notepads. All four of these items were $1 each!!

The 6 pack of pencils will be perfect for homework, and the pencil pouch is perfect to hold the all the stationery accessories and of course the kajillion Shopkins Collector's Lists! The pencil pack was $1, and the pouch (with a few accessories included) was $3.

The four-pack of Shopkins gel pens will be fun for writing in her notebooks, as well as using the Shopkins Stamp Set. Sticker books are always a win, especially if puffy stickers are included!! All three of these items were $1.

Umbrellas are always a great Easter basket filler idea, and this Shopkins umbrella was too cute to pass up. I also found some $1 Shopkins bandages, and a mystery plush hanger/keychain, and a set of 3 magnets. Totally random, but they will be such a fun addition to the basket! Because this is an Easter basket, I also grabbed a couple of Shopkins Easter Eggs (2 Shopkins in each).

Walmart is also a great place to find inexpensive Shopkins items! The Shopkins watch was a lucky clearance find, and the stuffed Shopkins Poppy Corn just had to come home with me. In the Easter aisles, I found some lenticular/holographic eggs with Strawberry Kiss on the front.

I always enjoyed getting new spring clothes for Easter. You can also find a pretty large selection of Shopkins tees in the girls clothing to pick from. Another lucky find was this blue Shopkins basket that was on clearance for $3. It is the PERFECT-sized basket to hold all of this amazing loot and can also be used for play after Easter is over!

The Strawberry Kiss lenticular/holographic eggs are great for holding Shopkins, erasers, or any other tiny objects you want to add to the basket.

One of the larger purchases was one of the Shopkins Shoppies dolls. They are all so adorable and cost about $10-14. They include 2 Shopkins, and other accessories. Not sure which one to pick? You really can't go wrong with any of them, but I decided to take my daughter to the store to look at the Shoppies one day and nonchalantly asked which ones were her favorites. The next day, I went back to pick one up for the basket!

Last, but not least, I also grabbed a 12 pack of Shopkins. You can find these packs for a great deal to get more figures for your money. Place the unopened package in the basket, or open it up and put the Shopkins into Easter eggs for a little more excitement.

I lined the bottom with some tissue paper and Easter grass, then carefully arranged all the Shopkins items into the Shopkins shopping basket. By the way, this doesn't just have to be an Easter gift idea. You can also arrange the gift basket for birthdays, Christmas, or just for fun!!

Do you have a Shopkins fan in your life? Which Shopkin is their favorite?

How to Upload Your Own Images in Cricut Design Space

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine. This post contains affiliate links.

My daughter loves helping me come up with her own style of shirts to wear. Being a graphic designer, I can draw up anything she has her mind set on and create the shirt of her dreams with the Cricut. When it comes to mermaids, unicorns, or anything sparkly, it's sure to be a hit with this girl! She's got the "messy hair, don't care" attitude already, so we went the more mystical route with "Mermaid Hair, Don't Care" on a t-shirt and glittery vinyl.

You can create just about anything with a Cricut Explore machine. There are tons of images and fonts available to help you make everything you need in a snap. I've tried multiple cutting machines through the years, and one thing I've found that the Cricut Explore can do better than the others is that I can cut my own designs easily. Today I'm going to show you how you can do it, too!

How to Upload Your Own Images in Cricut Design Space for custom shirts and more! #Cricut

You can upload any custom images in Cricut Design Space for free. Create your own designs in Photoshop, or use other programs like PicMonkey. As long as you save your images as JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, SVG, or DXF files, they can be uploaded.

To start, open the Design Space program with a new canvas. On the left menu/tool bar, select the "Upload Images" tab. Under "Image" click on the blue "Upload Image" button.

Next, click "Browse".

How to Upload Your Own Images in Cricut Design Space for custom shirts and more! #Cricut

A screen will pop up so you can find your image file to upload. Once you've located your image, select it and click "Open".

My file is a JPG, so that means the design and the background are one flat image. We need to remove the background (white) and leave the design (black). Depending on how simple or complex your image is, you can choose from three options to give you the best tools to clean up your design for cutting, drawing or printing. Select your image choice, and click "Continue".

How to Upload Your Own Images in Cricut Design Space for custom shirts and more! #Cricut

The next screen will allow you to clean up your image. You can crop and erase parts of your image in just a few clicks. Deleted parts of your image will show the checkered background, which won't show in your finished design.

All you want left is the black parts of the design, so don't forget to delete the white insides of letters and zoom in to remove the smaller white details of the design! Once you've got your image cleaned up, click "Continue".

How to Upload Your Own Images in Cricut Design Space for custom shirts and more! #Cricut

The next screen will show two boxes to choose from. The option on the left is for designs that you'd like to Print Then Cut, like for stickers, printable vinyl, and more. Since my design is to be used with vinyl, I need to save the design as a "Cut Image" with the scissors icon.

How to Upload Your Own Images in Cricut Design Space for custom shirts and more! #Cricut

Now that you've saved your image, you're done uploading. Easy, right? Everything you upload can now be easily found in the "Upload Images" tab to use time and time again!

To use your image, select the design in the "Uploaded Images Library". You'll know it's selected by the green checkmark in the top right corner of the image box, as well as a smaller thumbnail at the bottom of the screen next to the "Cancel" button.

Click "Insert Image".

Now the your custom, uploaded design is ready to be used for your projects. In the Edit panel, you can adjust size, mirror your image for iron-on projects, and more!

Creating your own custom projects with images you design yourself on the Cricut Explore machine couldn't be easier. My daughter is thrilled with her new "Mermaid Hair, Don't Care" shirt with Glitter Iron-on and is already making plans for her next shirt design!

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

Decorate your home for Easter with this easy-to-make DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath!

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

After doing a little Easter shopping for our upcoming family Easter egg hunt, I came across these glittery beauties and couldn't resist adding them to the cart. Instead of filling them with sweet treats and surprises though, I decided they needed to adorn my walls every spring instead in the form of a wreath!!

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

You only need 3 supplies:
4 dozen Multi-Colored Glittered Easter Eggs (I found mine at Walmart)
Glue Gun & Glue Sticks

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

Step 1: Hold the egg carefully in your hand and add a large drop of glue on the center of the egg.

Step 2: Carefully place the egg on the wreath form and hold in place for a few minutes until the glue has set.

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

Step 3: Place the rest of the eggs close to each other until the wreath is covered. You won't need to cover the back of the wreath since it won't be seen.

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

Step 4: Once the wreath is covered with sparkling eggs, you're done! You can add embellishments like ribbon or Easter grass, but I decided to keep mine with just the eggs. Glue a small piece of ribbon shaped like a "U" on the back to work as a wreath hanger.

DIY Glittered Easter Egg Wreath

This wreath is so easy to make and doesn't take too long at all. It's a great crafternoon or girl's night project, but prepare to be covered in glitter when you're done! Obviously, the larger the wreath, the more eggs you will need. I also recommend putting on your favorite movie or binge-watching some Netflix while you make your wreath since the gluing can get a little monotonous after a while. Just watch your fingers so you don't burn yourself!!

Hang the wreath on your door or walls, or stand it up on a shelf with your favorite Easter knick knacks and decor. I am absolutely loving this wreath and hope you do, too!

Even though spring just got here, we are really, REALLY looking forward to summer so we can go see Despicable Me 3 on June 30th! Haven't seen the preview yet? Check it out (it's hilarious):

Illumination, who brought audiences Despicable Me and the biggest animated hits of 2013 and 2015, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, continues the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters - Margo, Edith and Agnes - and the Minions in Despicable Me 3. Directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, co-directed by Eric Guillon and written by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio, the animated film is produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and executive produced by Chris Renaud.

Joining Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig in Despicable Me 3 is Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Trey Parker, co-creator of Comedy Central’s global phenomenon South Park and the Broadway smash The Book of Mormon. Parker voices the role of villain Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who’s grown up to become obsessed with the character he played in the ‘80s, and proves to be Gru’s most formidable nemesis to date.

Mother's Day Bottle Cap Keychains are a creative craft for kids to make an awesome, custom keychain moms, aunts, and grandmothers are sure to love!

As a mom, I think some of the best gifts you can receive are ones that kids make especially for you. With a little help, my daughter made me this sweet bottle cap keychain that I can take everywhere with me. These keychains are so simple and quick to make, and kids of all ages will have a ton of fun creating something special with their artwork.

Mother's Day Bottle Cap Keychains are a creative craft for kids to make an awesome, custom keychain moms, aunts, and grandmothers are sure to love!

Supplies Needed:
Flat Bottle Cap
Epoxy Sticker
Key Chain Ring
1 inch (2.54 cm) Circle Craft Punch
Strong, Clear Glue (super glue, E6000, Beacon Mixed Media)
Ultra Fine Marker Pens
Cardstock

Mother's Day Bottle Cap Keychains are a creative craft for kids to make an awesome, custom keychain moms, aunts, and grandmothers are sure to love!

Punch some 1 inch circles out of white cardstock using the circle craft punch. Cut more than you'll need. Once kids get started making different designs, they want to keep making more, or sometimes they make mistakes and just want to start over.

Now, for the fun part! Grab some ultra fine marker pens in a variety of colors. It doesn't matter what brand you use. You can see that we used a few different kinds! Encourage kids to draw things they think the recipient will love. Things like hearts, self-portraits, words or phrases are a great place to start!

After kids are done drawing, lay out all the designs they created and choose the one to make into a keychain. This is probably the hardest part of the entire process!! So many cute ones to choose from!

Once they have chosen an image, it's time to put the bottle cap keychain together. You'll need the drawing, bottle cap, epoxy sticker, a keychain ring, and some strong glue.

Mother's Day Bottle Cap Keychains are a creative craft for kids to make an awesome, custom keychain moms, aunts, and grandmothers are sure to love!

Carefully place the epoxy sticker over the drawing. Be careful not to touch the back of the sticker before you stick it to the paper, otherwise you'll get fingerprints that show through on the image. Use a vinyl scraper tool or credit card and rub the back of the paper to get any air bubbles out.

Add a drop of glue on the bottle cap and then place the epoxied image into the bottle cap. Gently press it down and let dry for a few hours (check glue packaging for drying time).

Once the glue has dried, the keychain is ready to use! I absolutely love my keychain and think it's such a fun and creative gift idea from kids for any occasion, especially Mother's Day!
