My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree Movie Night

Thanks to Hasbro for the toys shared in this post. All opinions are my own.

Did you know that there's a new My Little Pony Equestria Girls movie coming to Netflix on October 1st? It's called My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree and it looks like such a fun adventure! Here's the official trailer to give you an idea of what the storyline is about:

My daughter couldn't be more excited about the new movie, so we decided to invite a few of her friends over for a My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree Movie Night! The movie night is going to be a lot of fun and I'm excited to share our ideas and a FREE printable with you. There's also an awesome giveaway at the end of this post, so be sure to enter to win!

After you've made your basic plans, the most important step to any party is to get invitations sent out! I've created some free printable My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree movie night invitations that you are welcome to use for your own party. Print on cardstock, then fill in the information. Voila!!

Some things you should know before downloading:

Since the movie is based in "Camp Everfree", I decided to bring a camping theme into the movie night. The girls will get to build a fort, and have blankets and pillows to snuggle in as they watch the movie on Netflix. Along with popcorn, our party guests will also get to create some colorful Rainbow Magic S'mores!!

Rainbow Magic S'mores at artsyfartsymama.com

Getting the marshmallows to be different colors is easy peasy. In a small bowl, pour just enough water to cover half a marshmallow. Add in a generous amount of liquid or gel food coloring to the water and mix well. BTW - I really REALLY love how vibrant the neon set of food coloring is!!

Obviously, mix each color in a separate bowl and create as many or as few colors as you'd like. Grab a marshmallow and carefully dunk it into one of the colors and immediately pull it out and set it color-side up on a plate. Once it's dry, dip the other end into another color! If you don't want to wait for it to dry, you can also poke a toothpick into the wet end and dip it into the other color. I would recommend only dipping it into two different colors so you don't make the marshmallows too mushy.

Rainbow Magic S'mores at artsyfartsymama.com

Let the marshmallows dry completely before turning them into s'mores! They will just be a sticky, gooey mess (not in a good way) otherwise. So, once they've dried, you can dump those marshmallows onto a plate to be transformed into a roasty, toasty s'more.

To make things easier, I grabbed some fudge striped cookies to hold the marshmallows instead of the traditional graham crackers and chocolate pieces. The s'mores are colorfully delicious and are sure to be a hit at our My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree movie night!

My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree Dolls at artsyfartsymama.com

Last, but not least, we are also going to have some play time with some My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree dolls including Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy who want to put their best fashion forward at Camp Everfree! Each doll comes with a boho chic outfit, shoes, and a necklace that can be scanned to unlock more fun in the Hasbro My Little Pony Equestria Girls app like clothing, games or coins.

The dolls are available at most major toy retailers nationwide and on HasbroToyShop.com.

I hope you've gotten as excited as we are about the new My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree movie coming to Netflix on October 1st! These dolls are adorable and the girls are going to have a blast playing with them this weekend!

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

Keep your teddy bear warm and cozy wherever you go with this Easy Snuggle Quilt! It's a great beginning quilting project and makes a great gift.

Did you have a favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal that you couldn't part with as a child? My daughter has always had a "soft" spot in her heart for stuffed animals and cuddly blankets. She's got a few particular favorites that go practically everywhere with us, which also means we need to throw it in the wash often to keep them fresh and soft as ever. September 9th was National Teddy Bear day, so to celebrate, we put together a snuggle quilt for our Snuggle teddy bear - the newest addition to her stuffed animal family!

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

Snuggle® also knows how special a teddy bear can be, which is why for the second year in a row they are brightening days everywhere with the #ShareABear campaign by donating 5,000 bears to children in need.

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

Our local Walmart offers multiple sizes and scents of Snuggle® products to choose from. Snuggle® PLUS SuperFresh™ is a quality fabric conditioner that will, after using it as the packaging suggests, create even more snuggle-up moments with your laundry and stuffed animals by giving them Snuggly Softness™ and a long-lasting fresh scent.

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

To create your own Easy Snuggle Quilt, you'll need five cotton fabrics in different colors and patterns. You can go through your own fabric stash, or head to the store and choose some. My best tip for choosing fabric is to start by finding one with multiple colors in it (like the floral one on the bottom right). Then, you can choose other fabrics that coordinate with different colors and patterns. Just have fun with it and don't be afraid to mix things up!

Cut the fabric into 2 ½ inch squares. If you have a quilt pattern in mind, you can count out how many squares of each fabric you'll need. I didn't count how many squares for each, but I did cut more of my main/floral fabric than the others because I wanted that fabric to be a little more prominent.

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

Lay out all your squares and create the quilt pattern. You can do a repeating pattern or keep it random. This is also when you can decide how large you want the quilt to be. I set mine up to be 5 squares across and 7 rows.

Once you've settled on your design, TAKE A PICTURE with your phone! That way if anything gets mixed up, you can refer to the photo to get things right. Stack the squares from each row so they will be in order. Place the stacks in order so you can start to sew the rows together.

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

Start with the stack for the first row. Put the first two squares together, right sides facing each other. Sew the pieces together with a 1/4" seam allowance, making sure to backstitch at both ends. Open up the pieces, and place the next square face down on the second square you just sewed. Keep repeating until the 5 squares are sewn together. Sew the rest of the rows together, and iron the seams so that the rows lay flat.

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

Lay the first and second rows right sides together. Try to line up the seams as best as you can and pin in place. Sew the rows together, backstitching at the beginning and the end. Sew on the third row to the second row, and repeat until you've got all 7 rows sewn together. Press the seams down with an iron. Now the quilt front is complete!

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

Next I got a piece of fluffy, cuddly fleece fabric for the quilt backing. Since this quilt is for teddy bears and dolls, I didn't worry about adding any batting. If you want a little more padding to your quilt, you can also cut a piece of flannel, batting or fleece to go in between the layers. Lay the quilt top face down on the right side of the fleece. Cut the fleece to be the same size as the quilt top.

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

Pin the fabrics together and sew 1/4" around the edges. Leave about a 4" opening and cut each corner at a diagonal angle, but not through the seam/stitches. Turn the quilt right side out and use your fingers or a slightly pointed tool to push the corners out to a nice point. Lay the quilt out, straighten the seams and iron.

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

Fold the fabrics of the opening over and pin together. Topstitch over that area and follow around the entire outside edge of the quilt. For the quilted effect and to keep the fabrics together better, sew a straight stitch on either side of the quilt seams.

Easy Snuggle Quilt Tutorial at artsyfartsymama.com #ShareABear

Now the quilt is ready to be snuggled! Wrap up your teddy bear up in this new snuggle quilt to keep it warm and cozy! If you'd like, you can easily adjust the sizes of the squares to make a larger, matching quilt for kids to snuggle in.

Custom Polka Dot Headphones

Teens will love creating their own Custom Polka Dot Headphones!

Custom Polka Dot Headphones at artsyfartsymama.com

Adding vinyl to accessories is such a creative way to customize your style and makes for great and unique gifts. Headphones are just one of the many things you can add vinyl to to make it your own. I found these headphones for my teenage niece's birthday is coming up and added polka dots with some vinyl from Expressions Vinyl to make a one of a kind gift!

Custom Polka Dot Headphones at artsyfartsymama.com

I found these cute teal headphones in the Target Dollar Spot for only $5! They come in a variety of colors, so you could really make this for everyone. They work really great, and the price really makes this project an affordable gift idea or craft idea for kids and teens.

Before you get to customizing, unwrap the headphones and wipe them down with some alcohol to remove any residue. This would also be a great time to plug these in and make sure they work... because you never know!!

Custom Polka Dot Headphones at artsyfartsymama.com

The possibilities for customizing everything you own is endless with Expressions Vinyl huge selection of vinyls to choose from. My niece loves everything glittery, so I decided to use some white glitter vinyl to give the headphones some sparkle and to coordinate with the teal color.

You can cut the vinyl with a Cricut Explore or other machine, but since I was just making polka dots I just grabbed my 1 inch punch instead to make a bunch of circles. Easy enough, right?

Custom Polka Dot Headphones at artsyfartsymama.com

Then, just peel the circles off the vinyl backing and place them on the headphone bands. On some of the polka dots, I folded the vinyl over the seams to give it more of a polka dot "pattern". I also think it could be cute to cut some smaller polka dots to fill in the space, but I decided to keep it simple with larger polka dots on this project.

My niece is going to love these headphones, and my daughter is begging me to help her make a pair for herself. Unless you are not great at making decisions, this project doesn't take long at all. Be sure to check out Expressions Vinyl's huge selection of vinyl patterns and colors to personalize your accessories!

What vinyl design would you put on your headphones?

Ghostbusters® Halloween BOO Bag

Ghostbusters Halloween BOO Bag for friends and neighbors! #BOOItForward

Have you ever BOO'd someone or been BOO'd yourself? It is such a fun Halloween tradition! If you've never heard of it, it's when you package some goodies together to make a BOO bundle. Once the bundle is ready, secretly deliver it to whoever you want! Last, but not least, BOO it Forward: Pass on the BOO'ing fun to someone else!

I remember it happening to my family a few times growing up, and I continued BOO'ing my coworkers and neighbors as I got older. This year, we are putting together some fun Ghostbusters® themed BOO bags for my husband's fellow teachers! Walmart and Walmart.com has all you need to make a Ghostbusters® Halloween BOO Bag for your friends and family and I'm excited to show you how!

Like I just mentioned, I found everything I needed for my Ghostbusters® Halloween BOO Bag at Walmart. There's lots of choices of Halloween candy found in the main candy aisle, and everything you need to package the BOO bag from American Greetings® in the main cards and gift wrapping aisle.

Ghostbusters Halloween BOO Bag for friends and neighbors! #BOOItForward

First, I needed something to put all the Halloween goodies in. American Greetings® carries all different colors of gift bags and tissue paper. For a Ghostbusters® theme, I chose a black gift bag and a bright green tissue paper to represent our favorite ghost, Slimer!

Ghostbusters Halloween BOO Bag for friends and neighbors! #BOOItForward

Adding Halloween candy to a BOO bag is a must, so I grabbed some mixed bags of fun size M&M'S®, SNICKERS®, TWIX® and Skittles® & Starburst® so that both the sweet & fruity treats AND chocolate would be covered.

Ghostbusters Halloween BOO Bag for friends and neighbors! #BOOItForward

After all, this IS a Ghostbusters® themed BOO bag, so I also found some toys to throw in like the blind-bagged Ghostbusters® Ecto Mini figures, and an awesome plush Stay Puft Marshmallow Man clip-on that plays the Ghostbusters® theme song when you squeeze him!

Ghostbusters Halloween BOO Bag for friends and neighbors! #BOOItForward

The black gift bag I bought is great on its own, but I wanted to take it to the next level and really make it scream Ghostbusters®. I designed a line of dripping slime and sized the Ghostbusters® logo to fit on the bag. Download the bag design and cut it out with scissors.

Ghostbusters Halloween BOO Bag for friends and neighbors! #BOOItForward

Use a tape runner and add a few lines along the back and on the "drips". Also add some tape to the back of the Ghostbusters® logo.

Ghostbusters Halloween BOO Bag for friends and neighbors! #BOOItForward

Line the slime piece up at the top front of the gift bag. Center the logo on the bag and press both pieces on well and add more tape if needed. Now your bag is ready to be filled!!

Ghostbusters Halloween BOO Bag for friends and neighbors! #BOOItForward

You could definitely throw the candy in as-is, but to Ghostbusters® it up a bit more, you can wrap that candy up in some wrappers I designed to go with the bag!

Ghostbusters Halloween BOO Bag for friends and neighbors! #BOOItForward

There are 8 designs to fit almost every fun size candy bar. Download the Ghostbusters® Candy Bar Wrappers and cut them out. Wrap the paper around the candy bar and secure with invisible tape on the back.

Some things you should know before downloading:

*You may NOT modify, re-sell, or claim the design as your own.
*If you share this on the internet, credit must be given and linked back to this post.

Last, but not least, download and print a card to include in your final BOO Kit. Fold the card over or cut out both sides like I did and tape the two sides together to put in the bag.

Ghostbusters Halloween BOO Bag for friends and neighbors! #BOOItForward

Place 2-3 sheets of tissue paper in the bag first, then drop in the candy bars. Arrange the Ghostbusters® toys and figures along with the card at the top of the bag. Now the Ghostbusters® Halloween BOO Bag is ready to secretly deliver and BOO it Forward to someone else! See more BOO'ing inspiration and ideas at BooItForward.com.

Have you seen the new Ghostbusters® movie yet? We absolutely LOVED it and can't wait to watch it at home! On October 11th, Ghostbusters® will be available on DVD in stores. It can also be preordered on Blu-Ray or DVD right now!

Who will you be BOO'ing it Forward to this year?
