Free Printable Back to School Bingo

I can't believe it's already time to get the kids back in school! There's always a little excitement when it comes time to start a new school year, but for the most part, we are all a little sad to say goodbye to summer. This Back to School Bingo should help the kids get ready for the new school year and could be a fun way to break the ice with a new class on their first day back!

Just like my Halloween BingoThanksgiving BingoChristmas BingoEaster Bingo, Birthday Bingo, and Summer Bingo, I'm sure this version will be a hit with everyone, young and old!

Download the Back to School Bingo Set
(single PDF file includes 8 Bingo cards and calling pieces)

I've gotten a lot of requests to make more than 8 Bingo cards for larger groups that will be playing Bingo. To help solve this problem without having to create a whole bunch of card designs, I've put together a version that will make it easy for everyone to customize their own Bingo card.

Print out the Blank Back to School Bingo Set, which comes with a blank card (with the "free" space already added), all 24 Bingo pieces, and the calling cards. Print out the cards on cardstock, and the Bingo pieces on cardstock or regular copy paper.

Cut the Bingo pieces by following the lines. Glue the pieces wherever you want on the card with glue stick or Elmer's glue until all the spaces (except the "free" space) are covered. This would be a fun activity for older kids to do all on their own. Younger children will need some assistance with the cutting, but my daughter had no problem gluing all the pieces down herself.

Game Instructions
1. Pick some kind of object to mark your squares: buttons, candy, beans, M&Ms, wrapped candy, cereal, or any other small items work great!
2. Give each player a Bingo card and markers (or put your own together with the DIY set). Have each player put a marker over the free space.
3. The caller will draw a calling piece and announce the item on the card. Each player will cover that item on their card with a marker. Once a player has 5 squares covered in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), they call out "BINGO!" and win the game!

Some things you should know before downloading:
*Artsy-Fartsy Mama printables are for PERSONAL USE ONLY.
*You may NOT modify, re-sell, redistribute, or claim the design as your own.
*Please do not remove the credits/watermarks.
*If you post this on the internet, credit must be given to Artsy-Fartsy Mama & linked back to my blog.

Download Instructions:
On the top left under "File", click the "Download" option. A pop-up window should appear. Make sure the "Save File" option is selected, then click OK to download.

To lengthen the life of the prints, I would recommend printing the Bingo cards and calling pieces on cardstock and then laminating. All files are 8.5x11 inches and put together in a single PDF format.

Have fun!! Would love to hear from you if you play using my printable!

Easy Reversible Barbie Skirts at artsyfartsymama.com #fashion #Barbie

My daughter's Barbie doll collection has slowly been growing, and some of them come with little to no clothes... Being the little fashionista that she is, my daughter requested that her dolls should have a little more variety in their clothing choices. I have never sewn Barbie doll clothes before, and honestly, I've been a little scared to try. I've been kind of putting it off for a while, but then I received a few fun colors of Oly*Fun fabric from Fairfield World and knew it would be a fun fabric to work with for Barbie and her friends to get some new skirts!

How to Paint a Garage Door

HUGE thanks to Modern Masters for sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% my own.

How to Paint a Garage Door from artsyfartsymama.com #ModernMasters

Painting doors can be pretty scary and overwhelming for those of us who have never done it before or are just beginners in the whole DIY/home improvement world. I've been excited to learn all kinds of new tricks and skills now that we own a home of our own, and getting our doors painted - our sad, sad garage door especially - has been at the top of the to-do list. I just had no idea where to start.

Earlier this year, I learned more about Modern Masters and how easy it is to use. I knew right away that their door paints would be the perfect solution to our garage door problem. I'm so excited to show you how easy it really is to paint a garage door - and how you can get it done in just a day!!

How to Paint a Garage Door from artsyfartsymama.com #ModernMasters

The picture really says it all, but garage door used to be such a huge eyesore and, honestly, kind of embarrassing. It was incredibly faded, and it just looked sad. The paint on the trim was peeling off, and I had my doubts that the garage door could even be fixed with just paint.

How to Paint a Garage Door from artsyfartsymama.com #ModernMasters

To keep the same look to our garage, but just *better*, we went the color Ground from their Front Door Paint product line. Modern Masters Front Door Paint comes in 24 colors, all based off of an "Emotional Color Wheel", so there really is a shade for every personality! If you aren't sure what color will look good on your home, you can try out the free app (available on both iPhone and Android) to instantly see how Front Door Paint can transform your door!

How to Paint a Garage Door from artsyfartsymama.com #ModernMasters

To prep your garage door, you'll need a ladder, a drop cloth, a paint tray, a paint brush, and a foam roller. The night before, we sprayed the door down and got it as clean as possible. We started earlier in the morning when the sun wasn't directly hitting the door.

It helps to have more than one person painting in the beginning - one with the paint brush to get in all the cracks and edges, and the other with the roller to paint the larger areas. The drop cloth will help prevent the paint from dripping onto your driveway, and it helps a TON if your ladder has an area to hold your paint tray while you work at the top of the door.

We painted the door from right to left, top to bottom. Once the door is painted, it helps to open the garage about halfway and then do any touch ups on areas you may have missed in the creases. It took about 2 hours to get the first coat on the door. We took a lunch break, and the paint was dry enough by the time we got back to get the second coat on.

The Front Door Paint should cover in two coats, and dries to a beautiful satin finish that will NEVER fade. I can't believe the difference the paint made to our garage door and our home. I also painted my front door, so come back soon to see how great it looks!

You can purchase Modern Masters Front Door Paint in selected Lowe’s and Ace Hardware stores. It's also sold on Amazon.com and on the Modern Masters Website. They've been adding retailers to their Pinterest Map, so follow them to see if there will be a location selling the paint near you!

"Orange You Glad" Free Birthday Printable

Birthdays are such a fun holiday, even when it's not your own special day. I love giving creative gifts to friends and family on their birthdays. Once in a while, you meet a new friend or neighbor, or just forget that it's someone's birthday and you need to throw something together last minute without it looking like a last minute gift (we all know the kind).

"Orange You Glad It's Your Birthday" Gift Idea and Free Printable Tag at artsyfartsymama.com #birthday #birthdaygiftidea

The gift pictured above was around $5. Yours could cost more or less depending on where you shop. If you have no idea what to buy, just stick with the orange theme, and you'll easily come up with a special gift that your birthday friend or loved one will adore!

Things like candy, gum, mints, pens, and other orange foods will be the cheapest items, where other items like nail polish or accessories and the tumbler can cost you a little more. A gift bag would be even less expensive for packaging, and would look really cute, too!!

Once you have your gift together, simply download the "Orange You Glad" printable tags below (available in pink or blue), cut, and attach to your gift by punching a hole at the top or sticking it on with tape.

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken

Asian-style meals are one of our favorites, but we don't get to go out and eat it very often. Even though that's very sad, I've been able to hold us over between date nights by making easier and less-expensive Asian-style meals at home. It might be a bit more work than ordering take-out, but it's definitely worth it!

5 Ingredient Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken at artsyfartsymama.com #easyrecipe

This slow cooker teriyaki chicken couldn't be simpler to throw together. Just toss it in the slow cooker in the morning, and you've got minimal work at dinnertime! My family loved it. Even my picky four year old approved!!

Ingredients:
3-4 chicken breasts
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons corn starch

Directions:
  1. Add chicken to slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, mix together chicken broth, teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, and garlic powder until combined.
  3. Pour teriyaki mixture over the chicken.
  4. Cook on Low 6-8 hours, or on High for 3-4 hours.
  5. When chicken is cooked through, cut into pieces or shred. Add corn starch to teriyaki sauce and mix in slow cooker to thicken sauce. Serve chicken and sauce over rice.

Tips:
*If teriyaki sauce does not completely cover chicken in slow cooker, turn chicken halfway through cook time or cut into pieces so the chicken will not dry out and will absorb more of the flavor.
*Chicken can be placed in slow cooker thawed OR frozen. Cook time should be about the same.
*For even more flavor, marinate chicken in teriyaki sauce in a Ziploc bag for a few hours or overnight.
