Cat Cuddle Blanket

A lot of kids usually have a favorite toy or blanket. My daughter has piles of each. I found the cutest pattern to bring the best of both worlds, and I can say without a doubt that my daughter was thrilled when I finally finished this cute Cat Cuddle Blanket!

I got all the supplies to sew this blanket from Pine Needles, a super fun quilting shop located in Gardner Village in West Jordan, Utah. The pattern is by Cotton Ginnys, and you you will need a couple kinds of Minky fabrics and Poly-Fil. The pattern instructions were clear and easy to follow, and it took me an afternoon to finish!

This was my first time working with Minky fabric, and it really wasn't as hard to work with as I'd heard. As long as you take it slow and keep it pinned, it really didn't slide around as much as I expected. I consider myself a beginner sewer, and I felt a bit intimidated by the idea of making the blanket at first. However, once I got started, it was fun and relatively easy to put it all together.

The part that took the longest was sewing the face on the cat head. I used black embroidery thread for the eyes and nose. You could also use buttons or felt, but I didn't want them to fall off. This blanket has been wonderful for naptime and snuggling at bedtime. The Minky fabric is super soft, and easy to clean.

We're hoping to make a girly dog cuddle blanket soon, but until then, this cat cuddle blanket has been so much fun! The finished blanket measures about 21"x25", which would make a darling baby shower gift, or a birthday present for your child or grandchild.
