Toy Box Makeover

Believe it or not, this toy box was mine (and my sibling) when I was younger! No one has used it for years, and my house has exploded with toys... so I talked my dad into letting me give it a makeover and giving it to my daughter to use!

The original...
So many memories, but it definitely could use a makeover!!

I even saw some autographs by my brother and sister on there.

I removed the top, sanded some of the chips/scratches, and gave it a good coat of primer.

Then I painted a coat of white paint to cover the rest of the marks and wood knots.

I painted another coat of white to all the corners and let dry.
Then I taped them off with Frog Tape.

Then, I found some pink paint at Home Depot on clearance. A whole can for $10!

We went to Home Depot and bought a new piece of MDF from Home Depot, foam padding, and then We also reupholstered the top using this tutorial with some some leather fabric we got on sale from JoAnn's.

Load it up with toys and voila!!

I'm so happy with the makeover and love that my daughter can use it for all of her toys now!

  1. so cute! the ReStore usually has cabinets... I could turn one on its side and do this. I even have padding in my basement, and I have tons of fun fabrics to choose from... thanks for the inspiration!

  4. I think it's cool you remade what you had instead of going out and buying something new.

  8. Lindsay, This is so cool. I so wish we had stuff from when we were little, things held up so much better and everything was either wood or metal not plastic like today. This turned out great and I'm sure your daughter loved it.

Thanks so much for stopping by Creative Thursday last week. I couldn’t do these parties without you. Can’t wait to see what you link up this week. Have a great weekend.
